Shosh vs. O'Connor.....pick one; doubt we can afford both.  The rest of the list I agree with.  Need another Pratt and need a couple of bigs to start.  Early close to portal will tell us a lot.

No doubt you're right about Shosh and O'Connor. I would think, too, after the numerous huge games Shosh had he'll be looking to take his craft beyond SBU and the CAA if possible.

But it's intriguing to think of those two, all-conference-caliber players, potentially together. Too much of the same player or could they find a way to work together? Those two would immediately help with a few problems like backcourt scoring and ball handling.

And, yes, I'd say we all agree that SBU needs a re-tooled and bulky front line to compete in the top portion of the CAA.

I’d be thrilled if everyone came back. Lots of good guards and wings. Need to somehow recruit 60 minutes a game of inside presence. Defense and scoring in the paint. Everything the team lacked this year.

I tend to agree that it's about money - and with all the well-off alumni that Stony Brook has produced with our academic prowess, it's a damn shame that our athletic dept. has not done a good enough job with convincing them to pay for our roster.

The Ohio Bobcats bowed out of the MAC tournament in the quarters and finished slightly below .500 on the year. The "Fire Jeff Boals" thread is getting a lot of traction on the Ohio fan forum as a result. Many of the comments would feel right at home here in the SBU forum.

Historic $12 Million Gift From Jack Yongfeng Zhang, PhD ’87 and Mary Zi-Ping Luo, PhD Propels Yang Institute Into the Future
https://news.stonybrook.edu/university/historic-12-million-gift-from-jack-yongfeng-zhang-phd-87-and-mary-zi-ping-luo-phd-propels-yang-institute-into-the-future/

Quote
The couple’s gift will earn a 50 percent match through the New York State Endowment Match program, creating an $18 million endowment for the Institute. It will be further matched through the Simons Infinity Investment and New York State Endowment Match program, creating an additional $18 million in unrestricted endowment funds for the university — yielding a transformational $36 million impact at Stony Brook.

Zhang was recommended and sponsored by Yang for his doctoral studies in chemistry at Stony Brook. He later met his wife, Mary, while they were postdoctoral fellows at California Institute of Technology. Together, they co‑founded Amphastar Pharmaceuticals in 1996, where Zhang serves as CEO, president and chief scientific officer, and Luo as COO and chief scientist. Amphastar has grown into a leading pharmaceutical company that develops, manufactures and markets biopharmaceutical injectable, intranasal and inhalation products.

goods to the portal is good. lets be reasonable here he was exciting at times with his dunks and three point shooting. but defensively he was not amusing what so ever. constantly getting our rebounded on both sides the field. he had some stock going into our 4 game final stretch which he completely exhausted  based on his game. also never had a killer instinct, always played so passively as if he didnt care. also i heard his relationship with geno wasnt the best. lets hope geno can bring in some good bigs for next year.

Just a question:  If Toby and Leon had eligibility left, would they have honored on Senior Day?

Also, what's your prediction re: Shoshkikj returning?

G: Shoshkikj, O'Connor, Simmon, Butler
F: Gorman, Valentiny, Okafor
C:
Open scholarships: 6

I just figured I'd start this thread rather than us tacking things onto the end of the Campbell game.

Goods to the portal. Sigh.

I do not have Nahar or Onyekonwu here, even though I think each has eligibility left.

yeah i agree with all of that.  love the concept of the 2 year rule- but really- wouldnt that just result in kids who dont get playing time, or who dont like the coach, just to quit or not play, save eligibility, and wait to go somewhere else?

in other words, dont burn your eligibility, take the NIL cash, and then extend college to about 6 years (why not, someone else is paying).
