SBU Men's Basketball / Re: Around the CAA / Country

With Brzovic and now Burnham gone from Charleston, I wonder if they've been told that Kelsey's taking another job (i.e. Louisville). They've won 58 games the last two years, it's an exciting brand of basketball, and he's a great front man for a program. I could see it. Or they're just like everybody else seeing what kind of $$ they can get or how high on the food chain they can climb. I'd say maybe a little better but not much.

Remaining All-CAA members:
Trazarien White, UNCW (1st)
Anthony Dell'Orso, Campbell (2nd)
Reyne Smith, Charleston (2nd)
Landon Glasper, UNC A&T (3rd)

Smith left for Louisville. White likely to leave UNCW as well (though has not entered portal yet). Brzovic announced yesterday he is returning to CofC.

Sucks that NET was accurate. Illinois was an under-.500 B1G team and still beat the 28-4 CAA champs by that much.

Illinois just won the WBIT last night over Villanova.

Beat Missouri State by 5, You guys by 17, Tulsa by 8, Washington State by 23 and then Nova by 14

moore is going to be a player for DU.

He has quite a bit of promise. He did well last night, he has been trying too hard much of the season and has made a lot of freshman mistakes as a result including turnovers, but for a freshman, he is doing well (below our past freshman performance though). For Drexel to be successful with any consistency, we need more playmakers and less catch and shoot players. Moore offers that, but he is having to do too much for a freshman.

Congrats on the win. Your big got the better of ours for sure. Our game plan was not good and you guys capitalized. As I said before the game we are known for not keeping Williams down low and its mind boggling. I was surprised we were dumb enough to pull him out from near the basket since he lives there on defense typically (and where we need him). It is also commonplace for us to go away from something that is working. It drives our fans crazy, but its common unfortunately. Also hate to break it to you guys, we are not a great team, we were predicted to be and are very mediocre. That being said, I do expect us to be middle of the table, but that says more about the bottom of the league than Drexel itself. You definitely have a couple of talented players that are already CAA caliber, keep building on that!

There are times we look great with movement, there are other times we have 2 guys standing in a corner doing nothing. Williams could be that guy but we dont ask him to do so, and realistically he cant if we have him at the elbow. If we parked him down low he could easily be that 20 point guy, instead we put him out of position on purpose, what that purpose is our fans are baffled at yet.

Good write up. Not much to dispute. Williams can and should be a force on the offensive side, but isnt. It is mostly due to the offense we run and put him in, not because of his talent. Its frustrating and constant talk amongst our fans. He will make every team's night a rough one down low, he has that type of impact. Conditioning still seems to be an issue and he does still get the occasional game where he gets into early and often foul trouble but when he is on the court his defensive presence will be felt.

We are not a fun team to watch on offense. We dont have the movement a team running at our pace should have. Its not good basketball. But its been effective enough. By that I mean we have taken care of teams we should but the higher calibur teams we struggle against. Our shooting is unpredictable from night to night, so that is always a wildcard. If we shoot well we will always give ourselves a chance to win, but we will also go on long scoring droughts that put us in a tough spot. Tonight is a coin flip of a game, for sure. Welcome to the CAA for sure.
