Thank goodness this basketball team looks respectable. After the disaster of football, the university is in dire need of positive energy. However, I have no idea what they're going to do next year since half the squad graduates but that's a problem for a different day.

Speaking of Bryant, I would strongly encourage Heilbron to get on the phone with Jared Grasso ASAP. I think he'd be a great coach for this program.

Stop hiring guys from Ohio- there are plenty of coaches with Northeast roots across major programs in this country.

This team will be BRUTAL next year unless Chuck miraculously plucks talent in the transfer portal. Forgot FCS, this team will be barely DII capable at this rate

And you have Hatch making jokes about the transfer portal when the team is bleeding talent left and right

Agreed- extending Priore before this season was just silly. Was he worried Priore would get poached by another program? Absolutely hilarious.

Priore has only one hope and that is hitting the transfer portal hard to bring instant talent to this team. I find it hard to believe that there is significantly more talent at WR than Shawn Harris to be honest or Devera at TE. That seems like locker room spin.

If the president of SBU has any hope of turning this athletic program around, she needs to be ready to fire Heilbron and Priore next year if the results aren't there.

Yikes...this team which is already in the bottom of the conference will become significantly worse after this talent exodus. I did not feel that was possible.

That is a LOT of offensive talent leaving the team. I don't blame any of those guys leaving this program that is slowly descending into irrelevance.

Going back to the end of last season, as I evaluated our program, I felt that Chuck Priore deserved the opportunity to continue leading us forward – and I still believe that. Simply put, Coach Priore will return to the Seawolves sideline for his 18th season next fall. The bottom line is that we have to get better and we now have an opportunity to address some key issues both on and off the field that will strengthen our program.

What the hell is this statement from the TWT blog? "We now have an opportunity to address some key issues on and off the field" is the lamest statement. You had the last three years to fix this dumpster fire. This whole statement was one of the most aggravating things I have ever seen written down.

Heilbron and Priore need to get on the first flight out of Macarthur

If the program has lost the support of the diehard fans (which I think all of us are), how the hell do they expect to get new casual fans involved?

At this point, I think massive turnover in the program if that is the only way to make university leadership see that Priore is not the man for this program.

I don't think Heilbron has high standards to justify giving extensions if the rumors about Priore are true

Ford is in a make or break season as far as I'm concerned. SBU has different priorities however and its impossible to know what they are doing nowadays. Department seems clueless.

9
Albany, despite their record, has had a number of close losses this year. They lost by 3 to the team that made SBU look like a HS team.

Morgan State is another awful team. That's going to be the pillowfight of the year

10
Extending him would be the WORST possible optics. I just Googled Priore's salary and found out this dude was making 460k annually as of 2020.

That is absurd amounts of cash relative to other FCS coaches even when taking into account the cost of living in LI. Look at what Delaware did- they brought Ryan Carty from SHSU where he was an innovative coordinator and they are now ranked in the top 15 FCS.

Why is this university so attached to mediocre coaches. Were it not for Spallina and women's lacrosse, Heilbron's tenure as AD in recent years would be an unmitigated disaster. Heilbron got lucky when he started here that Warney was already a Seawolf.

As I've said many times, there is no reason for me to give money to an athletics department that has no clue what to do with money.

Heilbron needs to make the tough call

Again, this is still a well funded FCS program. This IMHO is still a pretty good job. Maybe I'm hopeless but when I was in Stony Brook back in the 2006-2010 window, the stands used to be packed. There was energy in that stadium. I think with the right team this stadium will be packed. Watching Priore ball is not exciting. It is impossible to watch college football without good QB play.

12
This is embarrassing. We didn't get blown out by North Dakota State but Richmond- solid program but this is the worst loss I can remember since starting to follow this team is 2006.

Priore needs to be dropped off prior to crossing the Hudson- nobody will take this program seriously with him as the head coach. It's a huge indictment of the leadership that they didn't realize that a FCS caliber QB was not on this roster. There are a million players killing to start at the DI level and they couldn't find one? What a joke.

It will take time to rebuild this team but nothing will happen until Priore is gone

13
Priore getting an extension would be the death knell for a program.

What do fans have to look forward to if he comes back? Absurd

Yup, I agree.

When this nonsense started a few years back I said it would be a horrible thing to allow students to transfer at will. Some people on this board argued the case and that all college athletes should have the ability to pick up and leave for another school. Well, The NCAA apparently agrees and now this is the fruit of your loins. This transfer crap is destroying all the schools outside of the Power conferences. Especially the schools where the coaches stink. Like Geno Ford....Be very careful what you wish for in life. It may come to fruition. Just like in politics. Trump was hated because of his mean tweets and was a victim of a fraudulent election and got the boot..Look at our Country today...

LOL, another insurrectionist and conspiracy theorist. Dude, you find every opportunity to talk about this grand liberal conspiracy.

Two years later and despite the absolute lack of data backing up this ridiculous point, ya'll keep pushing this. Rudy Giuliani would be proud.

Sam Perkins who used to write for the excellent onebidwonders website says he has heard on Twitter that a full move to CAA is a done deal for Stony Brook. No other AE school is being offered at this time.
