SBU Men's Basketball / Re: Game 21: v. Vermont 1/28

About what I expected tonight. We had opportunities but could not quite get over the hump. Duncan and their size hurt us. UVM is no doubt the team to beat but SBU can be competitive.
Laxnation, please stop going on and on about Mitchell. He clearly is going to get some minutes whether you like it or not. Find something else to harp on. It has gotten really annoying to keep reading your same tired thoughts.

Tough one tomorrow night. UVM has experienced size and depth to go along with a number of perimeter shooters. As noted earlier, we must keep Bell - Haynes out of the lane.
They seem to be playing an improved brand of defense as well so I wonder where we get our points from. Woodhouse will need to be exceptional and Sturdivant cannot get lost in their size. We need contributions from everyone. I am hopeful for a big effort and I want to be wrong but I fear we may have our hands full.

In a strange way, I almost feel like a UVM win on Wednesday at Albany helps us. I think most of us would agree Vermont is likely to be at least a 2 seed in the conference tournament.
I think we should look at Albany as more of an obstacle for a better seeding moving forward. Just a thought.

This UMBC game begins a stretch of 3 big home games. With a new coaching staff but most of the same roster, the Retrievers have shown significant improvement. Lyles is a talented scorer and they have complementary pieces who seem to have stepped up this season. With tough games against UVM and UNH to follow, a win Wednesday would really help the Wolves in their effort to potentially secure a home game in the conference tournament. I know that is a way down the road, but it is not too early to consider it.

Saw that coming. Not surprised. Forget it and get ready for UMBC.

Give it a rest Laxnation. As I said games with Binghamton can often be a struggle. Hopefully we can close strong.

Game day ! Looking forward to seeing if SBU can keep the momentum going. It seems that even with Binghamton struggling for a few years now, quite a few of our games with them are tight. The Wolves should not be looking past today even with a big week ahead against UMBC and Vermont. We should not take anything for granted. The Bearcats have some talent and are anxious I am sure to get that first conference win. Take care of business. Go Seawolves!

This would be a great one to get. As Checkmate said, 4-0 with 3 wins on the road is better than even the most optimistic SBU fan could have expected. Lowell will be a tough spot. They continue to show they are an improving program. Thomas is a beast. They are not quite there yet as the loss to Maine showed. But playing at home I expect them to be a tough out. We cannot take any win for granted so I hope the Wolves get off to a strong start. Lowell is capable of scoring a bunch of points so it would be tougher if we have a significant deficit. Crash the boards and do not allow Thomas to go off would be the way to go.

Holy !#$÷%. Who saw that coming? Character performance combined with very uncharacteristic Albany play.
Confidence building 6 minutes that hopefully leads to full game performances. 2-0 out of the gate !!!!

That should just be a game film that goes in the trash. Hofstra played as well as it can and SBU did not compete.
The Pride got every shot it wanted and the Seawolves never got it going. Move on and get ready for St. Francis before the holiday break. Hopefully the team can regroup and put a better performance together.

Well, that was a mess. Too many open looks for Hofstra and poor shooting by SBU. Let's win the 2nd half as the deficit may be tough to overcome. I missed the beginning. Any word on why Sekunda is sidelined ?

I would love to have been able to make tonight's game. However I am currently off the grid with medical issues.
Should be a tough one. Each of the last two years have been tight. Both teams are reloading but have some talent. Gustys is a beast on the boards, Bernardi can hit from downtown and Pemberton looks solid as a freshman. SBU needs to bring the same energy as they did Saturday. I doubt they shoot as well so compete on the boards and play some some solid "D".
We are nowhere near ready to compete in the A10 night in and night out. I too would like to see it someday.

I am sure this is the 1 OOC game we have all been looking towards. Not just because of the "name" opponent but mostly due to Steve's return. I would think he and Jay Young will get a great greeting and then it is time to get down to business. RU  has been strong on the boards. That has always been an emphasis of his. We will need to hit some perimeter shots as I am not sure we will get in the lane consistently. I am looking forward to a great atmosphere and hopefully a strong performance from the Wolves.

Nice to get that first one today. Hopefully the team can back it up with a solid effort on Wednesday against Loyola. The Greyhounds got blown out today by #12 Creighton.

Looks like the game may be getting away from SBU. Shooting has cooled off and Terps have hit a couple of 3's. The team plays hard and I think better days are ahead.
