- Was pleasantly surprised with Wight, he looked like a more than competent Big for CAA play
- Would love to see Philip play more...is he still on a minutes restriction? He is an above average glue guy, and the best athlete on the floor when he is in the game
- I cannot comprehend why Frey plays as much as he does...He is incapable of creating his own shot, and is a mediocre shooter in relation to his volume...hopefully Geno will steer away from 20+ mins a game
-Woodard has juice...looks like someone who has a lot of potential

Need the 3pt shooting % differential to be around 15-20% in our favor to have a chance tonight

Gueye needs to be featured more on offense. Dynamic player who can get open and create space with ease.

I watched both of their games without Key, and they have struggled to score the ball. For the last 5 or 6 years under Bennett, Virginia has been a top-10 team in offensive efficiency per KenPom. They currently rank 140th in the country in that statistic (for reference, Providence is ranked 112th, and needed to shoot 44% (10% above their season average) from 3 to beat us). Obviously, we will struggle to score as well. However, our style matches up well with the Hoos. Not saying that we will win, but expect us to keep it close, similarly to Vermont.

Call me crazy, but I believe this is a winnable game. Virginia's tempo (slowest in the country according to KenPom) will be helpful for us as it will limit our fast break attempts, and limit our turnovers (our biggest weakness as a team). Key is a dynamic player, who was sorely missed against Purdue (30 point shellacking) and UNC (9 point victory over a now outranked Tar Heels squad). Diakite and Huff are athletic bigs with size, but they can be limited by Otchere and Gueye. Our two bigs need to be on the court together for a majority of this game. I would start Foreman, Eli, Garcia, Gueye, and Otchere. Their size and length will provide easier passing lanes against the pack-line defense. Additionally, we need to shoot open 3s when they become available. This is the only way for a mid-major to beat Virginia, as evidenced by UMBC's 12-24 shooting in the infamous tournament game.

Bottom line, this is a great opportunity for Stony Brook. They need to go out and play loose and limit their turnovers. With students home for the winter break, the atmosphere may not be as daunting as it normally would be. If we can shoot over 40% from deep ( a BIG if), we'll have a shot against the National Champs.

One game at a time indeed, OldSeawolf. Important one tonight for the Seawolves. Albany games are always tight, but we need a convincing win to establish some late-season mojo. Expect a big night from Olaniyi tonight, who has been playing great ball of late.

HC played Michigan (who just crushed Nova) tight in the first half, and hung around with Providence. Going to be a tough game on a neutral floor.

Big time performances from Yeboah and Ochefu tonight. Latimer with two clutch 3s at the end. Phenomenal block from Eli. Great team win.

Well said, Steveoh. 2-3 was the key to the comeback.

And yes Old, free throw shooting needs to improve. Last night looked very similar to last year.

Hi All,

New to the board here. Just wanted to share my thoughts from last night's superb win:

- I thought the key to the comeback was Boals' switch to the zone. Moor, Latimer and Otchere provide so much length which helped to create some turnovers and easy buckets. I would like to see them mix in the 2-3 more this year with our new personnel.
- After a nervous start, Latimer was excellent offensively. Has an excellent looking shot, and exudes so much potential. He has the potential to be our best Freshman since Jameel.
-  Olaniyi took over offensively in the second half, and was the best player on the floor. He's at his best when he's attacking the rim and slashing, and not settling for outside jumpers.
- McKenzie provided some big minutes with Cornish in foul trouble. Really stabilized the offense at the end of the first half and a majority of the second half.
- Impressive minutes off the bench from Garcia. Nice to see from him.
- Overall, have to get better at the foul line, but a great team win. They played their game after a worst-case-scenario type of start. Impressive to see. Looking forward to the SC game.
