Quote from SH. Any idea what he is talking about!

"On the train back from NYC... the meeting that we had this morning resulted in an important partnership for
@SBAthletics
. The view alone would have been worth it, but we came away with something much more. Details coming soon".

Here to help! https://brook.land/lets-wildly-speculate-about-this-other-tweet-from-shawn-heilbron-together-2a95ebbf41a9

Anyone have a scoop on Olaniyi's status for Tuesday?

Am reliably told he was kept out against URI for a concussion sustained on the hard flagrant he took at the end of the Molloy game. Possibly back by Tuesday's game, likely by Saturday's at home against Quinnipiac.

Interesting that some potential key players  are missing in action .  Maybe we will get some double speak  eventually from  the coaching staff.

An Athletics official tells me the two-deep won't change but both Kameron Pickett and Isaiah White could see playing time this weekend.

I still find it odd why they're not listed on the depth chart at all, but it sounds like they're with the team and will be suited for tomorrow. We'll just have to see I guess.

Update: I'm reliably told Isaiah White is taking a redshirt this season, which makes some sense since he had to break his redshirt his freshman year. Ty Son Lawton is also redshirting, but Kam Pickett is expected to be the third RB behind Donny and Jordan.

Last year URI opened up like gangbusters, taking FCS Central Michigan to the wire before losing in overtime. And Delaware is no Central Michigan. And last year UNH was mysteriously obliterated by a weak Holy Cross (Patriot League) team 51-26 so losing badly to Maine is not entirely unprecedented.

The other thing with New Hampshire yesterday: they were without Trevor Knight for a majority of that game. He was carted off early in the first half, and that's when the wheels really fell off. Doesn't fully explain their defense giving up 35 and 450 yards, but might account for how they were held to 116 yards of offense, half of which came on one play.

I've also learned Stony Brook will have one non-D1 opponent on the schedule as well, which will of course be a home game. Unfortunate, but D2/D3 games are unavoidable these days. Fortunately it's just the one.

Two more 20+ win teams added: Bucknell (NCAA) at home and Ball State (CIT) on the road.

Gotta be among the toughest non-conference slates among mid-majors.

ANOTHER big one:

Add Michigan State! Assuming UConn is indeed confirmed, that makes FIVE high-major opponents next season.

HERE'S A BIG ONE:

Looks like Stony Brook at UConn is confirmed! Which also all but confirms the theory about the Phil Knight Invitational.

SIREN: https://twitter.com/ShawnHeilbron/status/895691005688766465

For reference, Monmouth's OOC is:

Nov. 10, Bucknell
Nov. 12, at Seton Hall (NIT)
Nov. 14, at Lehigh
Nov. 19, at Virginia (NIT)
Nov. 22, at UNC-Asheville (NIT)
Nov. 25, Penn
Nov. 27, Albany
Dec. 2, at UConn
Dec. 6, Hofstra
Dec. 9, Kentucky (at Madison Square Garden)
Dec. 12, at Princeton
Dec. 22, at Yale

Were I a betting man, I'd say the two Heilbron is referring to are one of either Lehigh or Bucknell, and UConn. Really any two of these would be good additions, but I don't think we'd add a third Ivy to our schedule (Brown and Columbia are already there) and Seton Hall and Kentucky have already released their non-conference schedules. Thoughts??

The Brookland guys are creating a podcast. You can listen to the first episode here https://soundcloud.com/brookland-907557196

Adam is the face of news and information out of SB athletics..I follow him on Twitter. I suggest you guys do the same.

Hey thanks y'all! This is a work in progress, but what I can promise is week-over-week improvement 😂 Next week's episode is going to tackle football's recent recruiting renaissance, but always eager to hear suggestions for future episodes!

The CAA is SB only choice. Odds are we'll never see them play in a power conference like the Big10 in our lifetime. Either stay in the AE or move into the CAA. I would rather take the CAA..

Here's my prediction: Stony Brook keeps a close eye on movement within the A-10.

A few reasons why:

First, it fits geographically. As with the AE, New York sits in the middle of the conference's footprint.

Second, the A-10 has about as high a profile as you can get outside the Power 5 conferences, particularly when it comes to basketball.

Third, Stony Brook would likely be an attractive addition for the A-10 as well, which would add another program in the lucrative New York market and gives the conference an immediate boost in some other sports like Women's Lacrosse and baseball.

And fourth, it doesn't sponsor football. Which means Stony Brook could keep it's affiliation with the CAA while still elevating men's basketball — and every other sport. Plus there is already a strong connection between the A-10 and the CAA (Richmond, Rhode Island and UMass all have joint membership).

Pitfalls:

No men's lacrosse. The A-10 sponsors WLAX but not currently the men. UMass plays Men's lacrosse with the CAA, that could be one option for Stony Brook as well.

Travel: Most members are along the I-95 corridor, but some — St. Louis, Dayton, Duquesne — are a hike.

Competition: Obviously a tougher conference means tougher competition. Stony Brook will have to be comfortable being a middling program for at least a few years instead of top dog in the America East.

All this being said, I think Stony Brook is no fewer than three years away from even seriously considering a conference move. The window might have been open a few years back with the CAA, but I think basketball needs a few more years of consistent success (and another NCAA bid or two would be nice) before they make moves.

America East coaches poll comes out Thursday. Here's my prediction of how the coaches will vote:

SB
Albany
Vermont
UNH
Bing
UMBC
Hartford
UMass Lowell
Maine

Thoughts?

Not sure why everyone focuses on the D3 game, it's your opener, perfect first opponent.  It's doesn't count against your RPI, relax....couple more dates are known on the schedule:

-  WKU is November 21st
-  Lehigh is December 22nd
-  Notre Dame is December 8th
-  American is December 17th
-  Columbia date has not been released.  First game of season for most teams is November 13th so that is probably your first game.  Still another strong mid-major and possibly one more high major I'd imagine.

Is Notre Dame confirmed? I know we have an ACC team on the schedule, haven't seen it ID'd as ND yet.
