Re: RE: NCAA Settlement. Pay for Play

My real concern is what does this NCAA settlement and the future pay for play model mean for our middle-of-the-pack schools like Stony Brook?

So much going on. Feels like College sports as we know it is DEAD!
Athletes at schools like SB who develop into P5 level talent, even if only as a possible backup at the higher level, will bail as soon as they can to get a piece of the salary pie. There will be a steady outflow of talent and the gap between the haves and have-nots grows even bigger. I think it becomes a losing battle and some schools will decide to cut their losses and drop back down to D2 or D3, or cut expensive sports like football altogether. Schools like SB might get a greater return by investing money away from athletics into academics and student life programs. The writing is on the wall.
