hosting brown, end of first 5-1 bruno.  we are making some bad decisions with the ball, taking bad shots, forcing passes inside, penalties, mental errors, losing GBs, etc.

brown is passing the ball well and creating offense.  and on defense, is pressing way out of the box.  we dont look great.

lowd, as usual, is making plays all over the field.

FLO really needs to work on their product.

8-4 bruno at half.  more mental errors.  no ball movement on offense.  too many flags.  playing too much defense.

despite the score, defense is playing as best they can considering brown's quickness, EMO, and we have no real possessions on offense.

in other news, EMD continues to do well.  we did cut the lead back a bit.

end of 3rd, 11-9 bruno.

terrible shot selection.  still settling for poor shots and forcing passes into the crease.  nevertheless, we've held onto the ball a bit more.  and shifted the momentum.  and caught up some with an 8-1 run.

jamo's outlets have been great today.  conlon may be injured.  smith won some draws and scored his first.  anderson nice hidden ball trick.

brown is working the shorts up top and we can't keep up, but team D is improving.

also brown is sitting their star player, FWIW.

final 17-12 brown.

brown went on their own run.  still just too many flags for SB to overcome.  it wasnt really over until about 10min left.  SOG% continues to be a problem.

EMD is really good this year.  i also thought that button made some plays, the kinda stuff that doesnt show up in the stats.

monmouth and drexel win; fairfield hof and del lose.

lost 9-8 in OT.  it shouldnt even have gone to OT as the refs took away an obvious PC goal.

Lots of good things to take from St. John's game, still some stuff that needs work.

Shots on goal and clears were two problems SB faced. Give credit to St. John's defense, which despite allowing 18 goals, is the best thing about their team. Too bad their shooting is even worse than SB's.

Faceoffs even without Conlon were excellent, as St. John's ran a long stick out there every time. Mitchell 22-27, can't do much better than that.

No violations equal no free man-ups. Neither team got into that kind of trouble, which means they must be learning. That's why SB was man-down so much vs Brown. New rule dictates a man-up after three face-off violations in a half.

Three freshmen get on the board, Carlo, Kraemer and Dechiaro, 10 different Seawolves score.

St. John's misses Huber badly. He scored 5 against SB last year for them, he puts in three against them this year.

Pallonetti 4 goals and 3 assists. He did it all.

Looks like the CAA and America East are on fairly equal footing, and Delaware dropped out of the rankings this week, so the Seawolves have an opportunity here.

But they beat a bad St. John's team like they were supposed to. Hampton is another should-win. Good thing about the rest of the schedule is that there is nobody significantly better than the Seawolves. Every game is winnable. The Towson-Drexel-Delaware stretch will show us what kind of team we have.

Hampton is such a joke. Between the awful Posecki basketball commentary and now not having live stats or streams for lacrosse, I really hate that they got accepted into the CAA. Some may say we're not in a position to judge, but of all the new additions, we're clearly the best brand. And I hate what Hampton is doing.

SB at monmouth in heavy rain (first ever meeting).  abysmal start, 5-0 monmouth in the first 8 minutes, on 5 shots.  looks like we forgot to get off the bus.  lots of flags too.

conlon is back.  settled in a bit and it's 5-2 end of first.

weve committed both cardinal sins so far- veterans hanging their stick (3x already) and not backing up shots.

nevertheless, we caught up.  notable is pallo has 1,1 both with his right hand.  halftime 8-8.

SB wins 15-12.  a lot more right hand from pallo, which is making him even harder to guard.

EMD continues to be great (one goal was 4v6).  lots of credit to the team for morale, specifically the sideline, for being down so much so early and helping keep the team in the game for the comeback.

not sure what happened on defense but unknown opponent, heavy rain, jamo may be getting screened.  we also lost a ton of faceoffs.

Ugly, but we'll take it.

Now the stretch run begins. Three should-win games won, here come Towson, Drexel, Delaware, Fairfield and Hofstra.

I'm on the fence here. They could win all five, they could lose all five. They probably will do neither, but the two wins they have will come in handy.

This makes Pallonetti the game changer. He gives them a puncher's chance in every game they play.

I got a good laugh when one of my guys said they need a catch-and-shoot guy to complement Pallo. You mean, like Jordan McBride did for Kevin Crowley?

With its third-straight win, the Stony Brook men’s lacrosse team is now over .500 for the first time this year.

Stony Brook started off slowly, falling behind 5-0 through the first 10 minutes of the game. However, after attackman Dylan Pallonetti finally got the Seawolves on the scoreboard, the momentum of the game flipped.

Alongside Pallonetti, attackmen Will Button, Blake Behlen and Jonathan Huber all scored to help Stony Brook erase the five-goal deficit and tie the game 7-7. Monmouth midfielder Luke Cole briefly gave his team the lead back with just over five minutes remaining, but midfielder Matt Anderson quickly responded with a goal of his own.

Stony Brook entered halftime on an 8-3 extended run, having tied the game at eight apiece.

Head coach Anthony Gilardi commended his team for not giving up after the unideal start.

“I am proud of the team for sticking to the plan and not panicking after going down 5-0 to start the game,” Gilardi said in a postgame interview with Stony Brook Athletics. “The bench was electric and helped us bring the juice as we chipped away at the lead.”

“I thought Dylan was fantastic again and I am so pumped for him on getting his 100th career goal in a big moment when we needed it,” Gilardi said.

MacLachlan struggled in the cage early, but turned it up as the game went on. He racked up four saves in the fourth quarter and finished with nine for the game, good for a 42.9% save percentage. Due to his improvement down the stretch, Stony Brook’s defense did not surrender a goal over the final 8:49 of the game.

Monmouth was able to create more turnovers throughout the game beating Stony Brook 16-10. It also proved to be stronger winning 21 out of 31 total faceoffs. However, the Seawolves were able to pick up more ground balls than the Hawks 34-30.

Long stick midfielder Christian Lowd led the team with four caused turnovers and was able to scoop up three ground balls. Faceoff specialist Declan Mitchell picked up six ground balls to lead Stony Brook.

On the bright side, Stony Brook’s primary faceoff specialist Renz Conlon returned to the field after being injured three weeks ago against Brown. He went just 1-for-4 on faceoffs in his return.

Stony Brook will look to keep the winning streak going next Saturday when it hosts the Towson Tigers. Opening faceoff is scheduled for noon. The Tigers are currently 2-6 after winning 11-7 against Fairfield on Saturday.
