could be that or could be that some kids arent cut out for D1 and leave.  i think it's just happening more and more as the NCAA becomes transfer-happy.

I dunno that's pretty damning- the transfer rate out of the program is not good. That's as explicit a criticism of the program as I have seen. I think something needs to change.

To me its very disturbing when multiple former players are saying that playing on the team is not a joyful experience. How bad is it that a freshman, within weeks of getting on campus, is thinking it was a mistake to come to SBU to play lax?

Also, the comment about SBU not having the chance to win a DI championship is true but that's a bit of a stretch to tout the ability to win a DIII championship as an advantage. I don't think DI players are running to DIII to win championships.

I still do not have a good feeling about the current direction of this program. First and foremost kids should enjoy being a part of the university and team. Success is important but I want a program that people want to be a part of. I'm obviously not privy to the inner workings of the team but the comments on this message board and articles like this really make me uncomfortable.

That was a pretty negative  article about SBU lax .  Not good that he would actually transfer down to D3 to play so he could enjoy the game.

Maybe one of you die hard Lacrosse fan should forward that article into Shawn Heilbron mailbox.. That's exactly what I would be doing if this was happening to Football or Basketball...

UA Lax is getting better and better with the passing of each year and they really stepped up their recruiting. Most likely because they like the HC ..SB should be right right up there with UA  by now considering Long Island is a breading grounds for Lax...

Anytime you are handing out money (scholarships) it does become a job at the D1 level.
All these student athletes that come in are the big fish in a small pond so to speak. Ego's
are going to get bruised. Look at some of the kids that transferred and see what the strengths of
the team were at the time. All programs have players leaving for what ever reasons. I have always
said our campus life has a lot to do with the unhappiness and the transfers.

It doesn't, but Nagle's mediocre to poor results for most of his time at SBU does.
