Not to best timing for a hiring freeze...from Newsday

Updated March 1, 2018 6:19 PM
By Candice Ferrette and Scott Eidler

Stony Brook University will impose an indefinite hiring freeze effective immediately to address an ongoing structural budget deficit, officials announced Thursday morning.
The plan will impact nearly all positions at Long Island’s largest public research university that are funded by the state budget. The decision comes after several other austerity measures did not produce the needed savings, officials said.
SBU President Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr., in an exclusive interview with Newsday, said the university faces an $18 million shortfall in its total base funding due to contractual salary increases that were negotiated at the state level and are currently unfunded in the state budget. The freeze also will impact administrators, Stanley confirmed.

Go back to my earlier post about the school having financial problems.. Nagle isn't going anywhere for a while.. Even if SB doesn't win a single game this season..

How much time is left on Nagle current contract?

Feeling a road win today. Improved faceoffs will make every other facet better. If we do not possess the ball D will be shot in 2nd half and offense will have no rhythm. We just need 40-45% of the draws. Good luck seawolves!!

A win is a win and it’s great for the boys...of course the Fairfield coach made adjustments at the half and Jimmy boy just stuck to his dated philosophy

Feel good for the team but still am in favor of coaching changes

Beating Fairfield should be a given

Beating Fairfield on the road is not a given. That is a quality win.

Did not say we beat Duke and it is only 1 win.  However, a win is a win. Using your Duke reference, Penn State beat Penn who just beat Duke. We were within 2 goals of Penn State on the road in the 4th quarter before the game fell apart.  My point being do not discard a win. Hopefully team can build from this and get some more quality wins. The line between winning and losing is not that far apart

a few possibly-relevant points, here's what we know about virginia:

ryan conrad, a prized recruit and starting mid for UVa, may be hurt with an ankle.

zach ambrosino, a starting close defenseman, was ejected on the last play against cuse and may be ineligible for the tues game against manhattan.  should be eligible for our game.

the wahoos may have a goalie competition 5-6 games into the season.

lars tiffany is the former SB head coach who did well here from 05-06, and left for brown (his alma mater) and just at the end of 10 seasons, put together a dominant F4 team that couldve won the title, complete with a tewey award.

Congratulations, a win is a win, we needed it. Congratulations to the girls, still number 1, thanks for showing what is possible at SB. Nagle still has to go. Hope contracts and money does not get in the way.

Just heard Conrad is out for year. Going to call it now. Stony Brook with the home win against the #8 team in the country. Building off the Fairfield win, darkwolves keep it going. Groundballs and faceoffs critical, need to compete for possessions. They do that--- transition O, 6 on 6 and defense will do their jobs. 12 to 9 SB
