This season is lost. Albany has really taken the throne in northeast lacrosse and won't be relinquishing it anytime soon with the way they recruit and develop players.

Just have to hope the young players continue to develop. Stony Brook should be an elite program given where we draw talent from. I'm a guy who is trying to get into lacrosse so won't pretend to know the nuances of the game but it is incredibly painful to get smoked by Hofstra in any sport. I know the team is young but this was an awful outcome.

The mediocrity has got to stop. It's time for Heilbron to make his first major lacrosse move and find a coach that can develop talent and win games. The men's lacrosse program is lagging behind the other major sports at the university which should absolutely not be the case.

Heilbron should be on the phone trying to find our next coach ASAP.

I agree, but it is all about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ right now and I dont think SB is in the financial position to hire and fire at will...
It's not at will...its been 7 years and the wheels have now completely fell off...it is time for a change.

They need to clean house and start fresh.  And if Gibson didn’t coach last night he should be seen the door today.

Could not agree more - That is unacceptable!!!

Could someone elaborate on Gibson not coaching last night. Is this just an opinion or do you know something, just curious. I was at the game and saw nothing that says this season will get better.

The information given on this OC could not be more ACCURATE.  Any player, parent of a player or fan at the game can see it.  He is the most unproductive 'Coach' (and I use that word loosely) in D1.  He antics yesterday were exceptionally ridiculous.  These Seawolves deserve much better.  It's time for him to GO

BIG, BIG, BIG shout out to SB girls #1 in the country. Nice job girls and Coach Spallina.
The numbers have been reported, they are public record. Something like Nagle $210k, Marr of Albany $145k, Spallina SB Girls $145k. SB should grab either one and give them a $100k rise. If we could get ½ the results of Albany or SB girls that would be a huge improvement . We know where Nagle lax is going, no question time for a change.

Gibson may be part of the problem but not the source. The source of the problem is NAGLE and staff. They all most go. Time to start over.

ok so there's turmoil at SB... on the men's side.

hopefully we've hit bottom (can it go lower???).  which means maybe we see improvement.  sure, it's difficult to envision beating princeton, virginia, and albany at this point, however, maybe we can upset fairfield, hartford, SJU, vermont.  bingo is 0-4, and BC is ok this year.

these are good kids, they are graduating, i'm sure they're smart and are working hard.  there's more to life than just sport.  but of course, we all want to see our team win.

it's always during seasons like this that the real fans stick with their team.

however.

if we lose to UML, i'll freely push the panic button.  :D GO SB

UML is probably a better team this year than Binghamton and possibly UMBC. They could give SB problems.
We just squeaked by last year and they are a better team in 2018

Yes, he had big offensive production numbers with Rogers, Eastwood, Schultz, Rooney Corpolongo and Bitzer.
Tell me what OC would not have huge numbers with that talent pool on the offensive end ???? Yet they never won the America East with those guys. How come???

A good coach adjusts and gets the most out of his players even if he does not have the level of talent he has had in the past. Don't cry about it and not do your job! Adjust your game plan with an offense that best suits the talent pool.

To the poster who mentioned lifeless players with the answer being 6:00 am workouts. You are not understanding what you are seeing out there. These kids run more miles than the cross country team. They are all banged up, washed out, and completely demoralized. Beating a dead horse never accomplishes much!

If it's true Nagle is pulling down $65k more per year than Spallina, that's a major misallocation of salaries.

Throwing in my .02 here since I played for Nagle (& Gibson). Players respect Gibson and enjoy playing for him... not so much the case for Nagle.  No one enjoys playing for that guy as he never once held himself accountable or took any responsibility (I can't imagine all the blame he is dishing out this week at practice). All former players I have spoken with over the last few days are embarrassed by the current state of the program and want him gone.

I couldn’t agree more. Being a former player who has played for this current staff and Sowell. The problem starts and ends with Nagle . There is no doubt in my mind he is taking zero responsibility, and throwing blame around at a couple guys in the locker room. Since the day he came to SB, he has systematically broken the program. Don’t know if we have the statistics on this, but it would be appalling to see the number of players who transferred out of the program since he came on board. From Cutting guys who played/started in the NCAA Tourney, to driving guys like Faceoff specialist Kyle Rowe (who went to Duke), Tom Monzo Defense, Connor Duddy, etc. out of the program. There isn’t enough space in the forum to discuss all that is wrong with his tactics. In my time there, the players had zero joy in playing for him. The players (at least the years I was there) all respected Gibson and valued his opinion. To Gibson’s defense, You can’t do too much when you have a guy like Nagle at the helm.
