beginning of Q3.  some rain.  up and down play.  macie save.  SB flag, brown EMO.  lucchese on the wing, low to high pegs corner. 10-7 SB

ottens wins ensuing faceoff, straight down the middle and scores. 10-8 SB

rees on break feeds inside to anderson (with poles) who turns and feeds to CVG alone on crease. 11-8 SB

ottens wins faceoff, break to molloy, low to high. 11-9 SB

haun draws double at 5x5, CVG follows and takes feed, backhanded reverse no look goes in, his 7th today. 12-9 SB

anderson facing off.  pugal tripping, SB flag.  then brown unnecessary roughness, brown flag.  5v5 SB ball.  reh hangs up his man at x, drives righty, turn and shoot. 13-9 SB

both flags stay, 5v5.  ottens wins ensuing faceoff, straight down middle and shoots. 13-10 SB

still 5v5.  corpo sweeps and shoots lefty from 13 yards. 14-10 SB

white wing dodge, shoots low. 15-10 SB

break, feed from haun in crease outward to bitzer up top, a high to high laser from 13 yards.  goss gets pulled. 16-10 SB

hudak wing dodge, feeds cross field to kniffin on crease. 16-11 SB

pedone at faceoff now.  rain picks up.  haun dodges from x, his defender drops his stick, haun turns and picks high inside corner.  17-11 SB

fast break to anderson, box fake and shoots low stickside corner. 18-11 SB

rees on faceoff now.  haun at GLE, inside roll and picks a high corner as rain picks up heavy. 19-11 SB

brown flag with a split second left, so no faceoff to start the next Q.

end of 3Q; 19-11 SB

beginning of Q4, no faceoff, SB EMO.  save and kills flag.  bitzer skip pass from x to corpo up top, long bouncer from 12 yards. 20-11 SB

mccaleb to molloy cutting inside. 20-12 SB

macie save.  brown timeout, Q4 835

panepinto swim dodges up top, steps in and shoots a bouncer from 10 yards. 20-13 SB

ensuing faceoff gets flipped to rees, escapes between two men, shoots on break. 21-13 SB

brown break, pass knocked down, mccaleb to molloy, shoots sidearm from 9 yards. 21-14 SB

SB timeout, Q4 756

brown puts some double pressure on, reh around cage, his man falls at 5x5, has 3 seconds to pick a corner from 6 yards. 22-14 SB

pugal big takeaway.  and GB.  CVG another takeaway on a brown clear, gets GB and shoots on empty net, i think thats 8 goals (third game). 23-14 SB

brown ten man ride.  brown flag, ntshaykolo slashing (he's dirty), SB EMO.  corpo hits pipe, ball goes the other way, molloy outside feeds inside to panepinto, turn and shoot.  man down goal. 23-15 SB

macie save low.  molloy backs in, turns and flips inside crease to collins on doorstep. 23-16 SB

brown flag, ottens illegal procedure on faceoff.  SB EMO.  lloyd up top, to white on wing, overhand bouncer. 24-16 SB

macie save.  SB timeout, Q4 247

brown pulls goalie with 3min left.  reh beats three, scores open net. 25-16 SB

kniffin on a break, drives left pipe and shoots righty bouncer. 25-17 SB

macie intercepts a pass.  ntshaykolo another dirty hit, brown flag.  play on, miller gets flagged for slashing.  SB kills the rest.

final SB 25-17

i said it last year- tyler anderson should be your favorite player on this team.  he better make all america this year.

SB moves to 3-0, all on the road, with a top ten win.

physical game (brown had 9 flags for 8min; three unnecessary roughness).  up and down, game of runs.  not sure if lindsay got hurt but he dominated faceoffs and then all of a sudden we couldnt win one and had our poles attempt to neutralize ottens.

five hat tricks today, not counting CVG's two.  :D  the next jordan mcbride???

brown's defenseman ntshaykolo is the dirtiest player ive ever seen in 28 years.  FIVE flags for 4:30 and he didnt even get called for two more.

pipes.  SB hit at least 6 pipes (brown had 2-3).  CVG had so many shots on the doorstep, some missed, some saved, 7 went in but he couldve had 12g today.

Anderson, CVG, and Rees should all be in running for All/America!
Will Nags make a change in goal?

a few more thoughts...

SB scored 7 in 7min in the first Q.

this game had quite a few faceoffs that went straight to a goal in 7 seconds, possibly 5 or 6.  it reminds me of the game 25 years ago.

i also wanted to call out matsuoka- i thought he had a big game today against one of the best all-time offenses.

also haun- 3G, 3A, 6 grounds and 3 caused turnovers, in his third game.

molloy will again be arguably the best player in the country and rees had his hands full; he just backs in (like warney!) and gets off a quick turn & shoot.  he's also dangerous on the feed to the low crease when he draws the slide.  i love that he got ink this past week about practicing at SB in the offseason (he's a WM guy).

66 shots today has to be a record, no?  id love to see a TOP but if it was 38-22 SB, that's nearly 2 shots a minute.

very proud of these guys and seriously impressed what nagle has engineered without rogers, schultz, easty, randle, curry, rock, olivieri, and hughes.

still some time but with cuse and UVa losing, and the magnitude of this win, i think we go to 15-16. http://www.insidelacrosse.com/league/DI/polls

correct!

Year By Year Results
http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/documents/2016/9/7/RecordBook.pdf

no letdowns.  let's beat fairfield (not great this year) at home, big game against Rutgers (they're pretty good on both sides of the ball despite missing their two star attackmen), and then a winnable homestand against lehigh and maryland BC.

we could conceivably be at 7-0 heading into hofstra, who beat a struggling princeton today.  that's four games in 11 days.

It's not Newsday who's wrong.  They go by the information that Stony Brook provides to them.

Of course, Newsday is wrong!  On April 13, 1991 Stony Brook as a D1 team beat Hartford 26-6!
