I'm very pumped to have Mauro on the staff. That sounds like a terrific addition to the staff.

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Challen Rogers (Coquitlam, British Columbia) recently was named to Inside Lacrosse's Player of the Year watchlist.

Rogers, a preseason All-American, produced a second straight 50-point season as a junior, tallying a career-best 30 goals and 23 assists.  He had four hat tricks and at least three points in 12 of 18 games. In conference games, Rogers averaged more than three points per game and scored a career-high five goals at Vermont.

Rogers is 51 points away from becoming the fifth player in school history to reach 200 career points.

Stony Brook opens the 2016 season on Tuesday, February 16 vs. Sacred Heart.

thanks as i was just wondering yesterday if new uniforms are in order.  quite the departure from the old ones.  firstly, blue numbers.  secondly, our roadies were red/red with white outlined #s.  this will be much easier to read.  and the names is a first for the program, no?

i wonder if we get new hats too.

USILA poll: http://www.laxpower.com/laxnews/news.php?story=45852

Quote
15    Harvard          105
16    Towson           97
17    Cornell          94
18    Navy             56
19    Villanova        54
20    Stony Brook      50

Also receiving votes: Marquette, Colgate, Princeton, Penn State, Army, Penn, Fairfield, High Point, Hofstra, Bucknell, Boston U., Richmond, UMass, Marist

I wouldn't be surprised if that 20 slot could be filled by navy, gate, Princeton, army, Fairfield, etc.  My point being that it doesn't mean much.

I question an article that states bitzer is an attackman (listed at mid, played two years as mid) and also writes "bitzer will become a regular starter".

and that jim nagle coached at Harvard.

but anyway.  looks like the moves are: bitzer to attack, curry to close, and tyler Anderson getting the nod at LSM.  possibly sichenzia back to attack.

it's starting to sound like easty on attack with possibly bitzer at x, maybe sichenzia, and then sheets/Schultz on the wing.  roughly speaking.

Brody Eastwood, Sr., A and Challen Rogers, Sr., M

Brody Eastwood (Victoria, B.C.) does essentially one thing on the lacrosse field: he gets open, catches and finishes with his left hand. During the 2015 season, he only scored three unassisted goals, tallied just six assists and recorded only 11 turnovers, but still managed do more than his part to fill up the stat sheet by scoring 59 assisted goals — nine more than any other player.
Though the variety of Eastwood’s game might be limited, it is difficult to understate the prolific rate and astounding efficiency at which he manages to do what he does best. On his way to a 62-goal season in 2015, opposing goalies only saved 14 of his shots and only 21 of them were off target (and three of those hit the post). The combination of putting more than 78% of his shots on goal and having goalies save less than 19% of them means that Eastwood was the most efficient shooter in all of DI lacrosse. His career total of 146 goals in just 50 games puts Zach Greer’s DI career mark of 206 within reach, and the rate of 2.92 goals per game would have him in a tie for the 21st best career average of all time.

The primary beneficiary of Eastwood’s finishing ability in 2015 was Mike Rooney, who accumulated 30 assists feeding the ball to Eastwood. One of the players tied for second on the team with eight assists to Eastwood is another Canadian: midfielder Challen Rogers (Coquitlam, B.C.).

Those that don’t pay attention to the box game might to surprised to learn that Rogers is actually one of indoor’s top defenders. Big, fast and athletic at 6-4, 220 lbs., he makes such an impact on the defensive end that he was not only named the top defender in the British Columbia Junior A Lacrosse League, but also was named the league's MVP. He has the talent to merit consideration as a first-round pick in the 2016 NLL draft.

Given his size and position, the natural comparisons are to either Myles Jones or Sergio Perkovic. Rogers is less of a ball-dominant creator than Jones, and while he is a good step-down shooter, he lacks Perkovic’s overpowering cannon. In short, Rogers is probably best described as a more, well, Canadian version. While he can certainly use his physical abilities as a dodger, he also excels as a cutter off-ball with the stick skills to finish inside.

I believe they they interviewed Nagle so the Bitzer move might be true.  Nagle does love him.  Also, the Harvard thing was a copy and paste job that should have been changed to "Record at Stony Brook"

Surprised Curry is playing down low
