Stony Brook, Navy, and Ohio State: Why not? The Seawolves are 7-2 with notable wins against Fairfield and Marist, a light-ish win profile but Stony Brook is crunching opponents they should demolish.

Saturday is the big test.  Winnable home game vs a quality ranked team.   Let's get this done SeaWolves

congratulations to mike rooney on breaking 200 career points- http://www.ncaa.com/news/lacrosse-men/article/2015-03-31/mike-rooney-reaches-200-point-mark-no-20-stony-brook-tops

in good company here:

Quote
News & Notes
• Rooney (205 points) joins Kevin Crowley (232), Jordan McBride (209) and Jason Cappadoro (201) as the only players in school history with 200 points.
• Eastwood moved past Bo Tripodi '08 into fourth-place all-time in school history with 119 career goals.
• Rooney moved into a tie with John Warrack for the third-most assists (36) in a season in school history.
• Rooney has tallied 54 points in the last seven games and is six points away from becoming the second player in school history with at least 100 goals and 100 assists.

just a note that easty has 135 with a season and a half left to go, so he could very well end up in the 200 club as well...

Over the last couple of seasons, Rooney has only gotten better, steadily improving from 42 points his sophomore year, 53 last season and now 63 points, with six regular-season games and presumably postseason play still to come.

Game 11- Princtone at SB
4/4 3pm
video: http://www.americaeast.com//mediaPortal/player.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=14000&KEY=&id=1306093&catid=0
50' and sunny (rain in morning)
game preview: http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/sports/m-lacros/spec-rel/040315aac.html

ive seen princeton play, and although it was against a good team (brown), they offense looked very sluggish.  they couldnt hit the cage, let alone beat the goalie.  on the other hand, princeton's goalie was on fire for most of the brown game (if youre not following, #12 brown is 8-1 with over 16GPG).  i should note theyve won a lot of close games, except for brown.

so other than the shooting, they didnt seem to share the ball well, or, move off ball.  but the attack is very good.  mcdonald is a star and a very good player.  ambler is a good all around attackman too (you might remember his brother at drexel a few years back).  and lastly mcbride, of the famous mcbride family.

at mid, its worth mentioning that their best middie (froccaro) is hurt this year.  kip orban has a fast shot but couldnt do much against brown.  currier and hardej get on the field a lot and are trying to fill in for froccaro.  lots of ball watching.

against hopkins though they scored 16 times and everyone got in on the action.  so we know their offense is good, but which offense will we see?  bonafede takes faceoffs.  and some names youll see at mid are himler, gravitte, connors, rotatori.

otherwise, even though some power and cpu rankings put us near princeton, they really have the better wins.  our best wins are rutgers, marist, fairfield.  theirs are hofstra, hopkins, rutgers, yale.

johnstone i believe is still out to SB is without their starting keeper.  btw it looks like princeton has 6 LIers on the roster.

and yes the ladies have a huge game against albany at LaValle today: http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/sports/w-lacros/spec-rel/040315aaa.html

i had the pleasure of sitting with chrissy d for the entire game, just behind the bench.  a nice day for lax (a little cold) but a great crowd and an intense game.  huge win for SB, probably the biggest since 9-7 over denver in 2010.

of course, princeton has 6 national titles in the last 20 years or so, and i dont think SB has that many top 20 wins!  maybe we have 5 or 6 i dunno.  so that's great for us.  something to build on.

princeton of course lost their best player for the season; SB played without its goalie and faceoff mid.  fortunately, depth pays off.

from the first whistle, the intensity was on full throttle, especially princeton.  they pressed the gloves and chased ball carriers out of the box, held long possessions, and attacked the cage.  SB looked in trouble in the first quarter.  they couldnt get a 50-50 ground ball, couldnt get a call, no luck.

but then some faceoffs started to come about and some flags and some good clears and in the 2nd, SB rattled off six goals.  but then, every time SB tried break the tie, princeton shut the door.

then SB started to open it up by 2, and every time they had a great look to put the game out of reach, PU shut the door.  shanschagrin was great in cage, just like in the brown game.

oddly enough, PU went to their second mids during desperation time (maybe 5-6min left), possibly to get better shooters while down 3???  SB helped by throwing the ball away during crunch time.  but the padding was enough and they got it done.

congratulations to nagle & staff; they obviously worked hard on the defensive plan, and it worked.  this is a nice big win and hopefully they roll this into nice victories in the next month.

This offense has played very well over the last few seasons, but they are at their best this season because Mike Andreasssi and his selfish play did not play this season - Definitely addition by subtraction.

most princeton goals i think were scored by mids sweeping from up top and shooting from mid range, but nevertheless, our man to man defense was great.  notably rock, randall, reh, ellis.  im not sure but i think randall was on mcdonald and rock on ambler, i really dont know.

princeton looked the same as they did against brown- missing the cage often and by extreme distances.  good ball movement, but no feet movement.  one dodger, the other five stand still and watch.  i cant believe this is the princeton team i used to watch rattle off national titles.

so who had a huge game?  too many to list.  macie had some great 4th quarter saves, and good clearing.  randall was intense.  rock sliding early and recovering.  lindsay won key faceoffs late in the game.  another ho-hum day for easty, scoring his usual hat trick plus.  must be nice...

but the game ball should go to the defensive midfield- especially curry, reh, ellis, and contributions from judge and abdellatif.  curry was everywhere causing problems for PU, ellis and reh made princeton mids dodge against the pole sometimes.

having guys converted from offense to d-mid pays off on transition- im talking about robison, ellis, and reh.  and curry.  my favorite player on the team.  well, luca is up there too...

game plan for the tigers was clear- absolutely shut off schultz, and try to not let rooney work behind.  they wanted to SB to operate above the goal line.  this opened it up for hughes, corpo, and bitzer.  bitzer was good with inverts today.

rooney for 3rd team AA?  easty for HM?  i think so!  curry should be 1st team AE if he plays like this in conference play.  maybe randall too.  otherwise we spread the ball around too much for individual honors.\\\

I enjoyed watching the game with COTB. Team is really playing well. Hughes was huge and Reh continues to impress. Sadly grown men on this board keep dogging college kids playing a sport. Especially someone who isn't even on the team. That kid left to further his education. Funny how you said the same thing about Rooney last yr. S

Great win. I really love what we're getting from the sophomores Corpolongo and Bitzer.

Are we going to have to beat Duke to get into the conversation for an at large bid?
