UA 25-0 over UML... should be a tough go for Vermont next week against the Danes.

if the cpu rankings mean anything (which maybe they do, but its not very much at this point) here is SB at 16: http://www.laxpower.com/update15/binmen/rating01.php

and fairfield beat drexel 7-4, that should help SB.  also loyola was upset against 'Gate, so its possible LC drops down below us, but also that Gate goes in front, not sure.  lots of lacrosse left on sunday.

interesting that navy is 7-3 (5-1) and looking good.

Game 10- Quinnipiac at SB
3/31 7pm

40' and rainy

havent seen QU play and they are 2-6, with wins over NJ Tech and Detroit.  they had a decent showing early against harvard (ranked at times) and the schedule is road-heavy for some reason.  they just lost to marist 17-10.

they're by no means a juggernaut on offense, but their attack is their strength.  sagl is a name we will hear often, and he is from west islip.  he had a big game last year when QU won 12-11 up in hamden.  they have a freshman starting on attack who has contributed right away.  and another from canada that runs pole and has 3G already with the longstick.  and another freshman from canada runs pole.  their stud on defense, French, is a senior.

the bobcats graduated a few players, but most importantly their goalie.  im not sure but i think this year there has been some shared time in cage.  they were picked fifth in the MAAC behind canisius and in front of manhattan.

GO SB

Ranked #20 this week.

Now lets see them take care of business vs Quinnipiac and than beat Princeton to prove they belong in the top 20.

Stony Brook put up 21 and yielded 12 in a conference win at Vermont; there isn't a lot of chatter about the Seawolves right now but they're pretty good; Stony Brook's dance with Princeton this coming weekend is huge . . .

unranked bellarmine just blew the doors off marquette, 9-3.  that should drop them a few spots.  opportunity opens up now to move up.  that is, if you can beat QU and Princeton.

besides that, good chance that LC loses to Navy, Hop loses to OSU, etc.  my point is that if we pick up two wins, there is chance to jump more than one spot.  GO SB

note the live link at the website is still pointed to vermont- so here is the updated link: http://www.americaeast.com//mediaPortal/player.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=14000&KEY=&id=1306310&catid=0

rooney at x, to schultz in the crease, spins and feeds to the opposite end of the crease, to easty for an inside low shot.

feldman cutting across, takes feed from wing, shoots low stickside on the run.

next faceoff lindsay wins, breaks, to rooney, for a fast break goal from 12 yards, bouncer from wing.

easty flag, QU EMO.  feldman got off three big lefty shots on the wing, but SB kills flag.

QU flag, during the play on, hughes in the neutral zone whips a long pass into the crease, easty gets a full windup, and shoots high to high.

end of Q1, 3-1 dogs over cats.

nagle goes to the well early.  turf is a little wet.  SB coming out very wide in the 141, creating opportunities.

camera work is noticeably better than usual.  matt mankiewicz on the commentary- as good as they come.

meth feeds a pass into the crease, gets deflected, goes in.

snow coming in a bit harder.  bitzer on the wing, beats his man under and then over, scores inside, no slide.

lindsay getting clean wins at the x.  slow break, to x, rooney throws fade away pass over the cage to a cutting easty, who slipped between two defenders.  score.

QU throwing the ball away, possible weather related.  rogers drives pipe, steps back, goes left adn feeds across the goal line to easty, hanging out alone on the crease, for a jumping catch/shot.  snow heavier.  SB 6-2, mid 2nd Q.

meth in transition.

kycia to feldman in transition.  actually, feldman shot this lefty with his hands crossed.  bounced it in the five hole.

lindsday wins another, timeout SB.  rogers goal called off, stepped in.

lawson inverts, curls around crease, shoots high.  three straight from QU.

sagl at x, pops a pass over to kycia on teh other side of the crease, beats macie stickside high.  tied up.

SB timeout.  QU timeout.  the cats come out in a tight zone, so corpo steps in and shoots a jumper from 12 yards, hits a corner.

end of half, 7-6 SB.

another slow break, rooney at x with the ball, curry finishes out the clear by cutting to the pipe, takes the feed right on the crease and dumps one in.

rooney goal called off, i think interference with the goalie.

curry gets a takeaway, clears it to rooney, who shoots high off stickside on the break.

schultz behind, passes to rooney open on the wing, high stickside, picks a corner for his 200th point.

timeout QU, 10-6 SB, theyve scored four straight.  8min left in the third.

QU goal called off, stepping in, but push with possession so a flag on rock, QU EMO.  macie save in the five hole.  failed clear, and QU capitalizes.

corpo drives from top center, shoots lefty on the run, high, hits corner.

dorsey flagged for push from behind, QU EMO.  SB kills flag, save macie, SB flagged, reh for slashing, end of Q3.

QU EMO goal from feldman, picks a corner from the outside wing.  11-8 SB.

video locked, but corpo from rooney, i missed it.

rogers initiates on wing, face dodges, looks cross field, threads a pass through two sticks to easty on the far pipe, for a jumpshot finish.

timeout SB.  10min left in the game.

bitzer inverts, huge pass over the top to rooney near the box line, 15 yard high to high, picks a corner.

lindsay keeps winning draws.  rooney has the ball on the goal line, looks opposite to a cutting easty, inside shot.  15-8 SB with 8min left.  QU might have switched goalies.

reh picks up a rebound and scores on the doorstep.  flag down, so no faceoff, illegal body check on weldon.  SB EMO.  its raining now.  timeout SB.

fleming in cage, fraietta on D, tyler anderson at SSDM, audio shut off again.  talay got on too, sheets, lloyd.

sagl to feldman, scores from the wing.  16-9 SB, 2min left.

stemke cuts from top center, gets a feed and scores inside, from sheets.

QU timeout with 20 sec left.  final, 17-9 SB.

where was luca tonight?  is he hurt, resting perhaps???

QU has an aggressive offense that moves the ball crisply and creates shots.  they were in the game until the mid 3rd.  i cant believe they havent won more games, they looked pretty good on the road in the snow.  at times, of course!

feldman has a good shot, scored 5 tonight.  despite sagl getting 3 assists, i thought randall did well against him 1v1.  kycia looks pretty good too, not sure why he isnt starting.

SB looked good tonight except for that 2nd quarter, blowing a four goal lead.  lindsay was absolutely key in winning faceoffs, but more importantly, how cleanly he won them, created breaks, and secured the ball.

rock had a good game too.  the defense kept 4 of the starting 6 to almost nothing.

rooney to easty is fun to watch.  rooney's midrange shot is lethal.  he has quick hands.  and corpo showed off the big outside lefty shot.  he should be less reluctant to pull the trigger, he'll be that much harder to stop, with both hands.  he was 3/3 today shooting.

game ball could go to lindsey or curry.  curry was all over the place tonight, doing everything, monster game.  lindsey had 13 grounders and won 18 draws.  QU only won 2 faceoffs in the entire 2nd half.

of course, rooney had 4,3 (one called off too) and easty had 6.

GBs were 42-15.  clearing was near perfect and perhaps one downside was four flags.

Stony Brook, Navy, and Ohio State: Why not? The Seawolves are 7-2 with notable wins against Fairfield and Marist, a light-ish win profile but Stony Brook is crunching opponents they should demolish.
