I would guess Rooney gets the pole...he's quicker and a better dodger...Hughes is more of a catch and shoot guy.

2-0, both rooney.  looks like johnstone is having a great start.

i heard someone say to the camera guy that he was cursing... he remarked that the audio was down, and then it cut out.  thanks for the laughs though!

MC switched to a zone.  we are spinning the ball around well.  a lot of 141.  snow appears to have stopped...

snow is back.

we look in good shape and pretty sharp for game 1- remember its early feb, guys are in new positions, i know MC isnt the greatest opponent, but a good sign.

5-1 SB 2nd Q.  wish we had some audio...  looks like dorsey and randall are down low.  EMO moves the ball very crisply.

HUGE first half for rooney at mid.  great TOP which has kept the score down.  team really looks in shape.  we are taking some outside shots and they are going in.  corpo getting lots of runs with the first line.  lindsay mixing in faceoffs with luca.  9-2 SB mid 2nd.  impressive EMO goal from rogers, face dodging to go left with a bouncer.

sorry for the live blogging.  end of first half.  sound back on.  absolute domination on ToP.  this might be a good Q4 to get a few other freshmen out there.  particularly on defense.

robison got some runs, on d-mid i think (ellis too?).  i loathe getting scored on just before half- and then curry answered right back with 0:00 left.  11-3 SB.

key stat (one that we've always been good at)- shot %.  11 goals on 17 shots (65%).  cant really ask for better than that.  MC is 3/16.

camera needs to zoom a bit more.  i see one thing that hasnt changed at LaValle is the awful music.  we used to have sinatra after games.  from top to bottom...

cross field passing with the long sticks looks good for only feb.  johnstone is having a monster day.  i saw bailey got out there with EMD.  13-3 SB mid 3rd.    i think i see reh getting out there with the dmids.

btw luca is such a good utility man- clears, GBs, faceoffs, both hands, gotta love this guy.  smart enough and athletic enough to pay multiple different positions on the field.

i think duke beat HPU 15-13.  turns out duke suspended 3 players just before gametime.  at least one was a key player.

easty joins in on the fun for a hat trick, 14-3 SB , timeout MC, late 4rd.

middle of 4, 16-3 SB. Corpo shows big lefty outside shot.  between himself and hughes, lots of size, and then rooney, creating matchup problems for other teams.

btw just put up a graphic that showed four hat tricks so far today for SB.

our EMD is doing well today.

i think i saw stemke and sichenzia running a second midfield line.

corpo with another- on EMO a big outside righty bouncer.  he must have really worked hard in the offseason because he is getting a lot of runs and rising to the occasion.  he's got a hat trick now too.

another EMO, sichenzia low to low on a broken play.   18-3 SB with 6min left.

Men's score is looking like the ladies' lax scores.  Of course it's against Manhattan...let's see what they do against the big boys.

with about 7 min left we are starting to see lloyd, stemke, chicquen, buron, czetlaka, fraietta, bailey, sheets.  sichenzia gets another to make it 19-3 with 90 second left.  philbin got in on the last faceoff.

Besides a great attack,  look at the strong defense for SB. ONLY 3 goals scored.

and whaddya know?  they end the game with sinatra!!!

perhaps one downside today is too many flags.  not very surprising considering the entire defense is new.

really complete game today for SB.  this is how we should be beating teams like manhattan.   this team's talent is wide, meaning that we dont have one or two runaway players (like UA may have this year); we have many guys that can hurt you.  so while we wont likely get the accolades, we can create matchup problems for other teams.  i think.

we knew what johnstone and luca were in terms of talent- they both had a huge day- but i have to hand it to corpo- big day in his new role in the first line.  of course, a lot of guys are in new roles and while we will face tougher teams, this seems to have worked so far.

defense defense defense.  great job today.  winning faceoffs and possessing on offense helps of course.  also note that maciejewski got in and had 5 saves late in the game.  fleming came in too.

SB shot 19/35 (54%).  easty and corpo- 8 of 8 combined!  looks like we played 30 guys.  anderson got some time too.  i think abdellatif got quite a few runs, judge a few too.  we out groundballed MC 35-24.

btw 2010 was the last time we opened the season with a win- remember that team?  we opened 2011 with a heartbreaking OT loss to #1 virginia.

in other news JHU blew the doors off UMBC and PSU doubled up vermont.  RuTgers edged out SJU.

The goalies played great...both made a lot of great saves
