Oh man, I had the coach in the 1978 photo, Dave Schmitz, as a TA in my history class that year. A real hippie, just 10 years too late!

Remember when we had Hofstra on the schedule?

Ah!  ....seems like years ago!

Hofstra at Stony Brook. April 2008. Full game. Check it out!

The year of the famous Sausage Crowley Sandwich and the Chicken McBride! This was the game that both of those famous tailgate recipes made their debut!

ENJOY!

The Stony Brook-Hosfstra game may be on its way back if there's any substance to the rumors about the CAA talking to Stony Brook.

USB moving to the CAA would be great not only for Lax but it would elevate the football team too

The football team has already elevated itself joewillie, and sometimes if its not broke don't fix it.  We are all gonna enjoy watching the Brook play on Sunday win or lose on espn. If we were in th CAA that would not happen. I understand the CAA might be better in the future but for right now the AE and their automatic qualifier have put us on the map. Big South has been good for the football team and hasn't stopped us from getting big time transfers (Coker etc.). It doesn't matter what conf you are in as long as an automatic qualifier is attached. We have to watch what we wish for.

This belongs on another area of the board, but....

Chrissy D— Until recently I thought exactly as you do. But I've now turned towards a pro-CAA position. First, I believe it's inevitable. In fact, I think that's what Fiore referred to on his tweet a few weeks back about a "transformational" announcement. He just has to wait to see if only ODU will be leaving the CAA, or Richmond and VCU as well, before he can consider a formal invite. Second, SB fans will be more enthused to see a game between SB and Maine, for example, than between SB and the likes of Presbyterian and Charleston Southern. Third, the CAA gets multiple at-large bids. I think SB can earn an at-large in many (if not most) years, given the way the football program is progressing. Fourth, recruiting would improve in the CAA, as it would be a bigger selling point to recruits than the Big South is. If SB got Coker and other high-profile recruits while in the BS, I think they would do even better (or at least as well) as a member of the CAA.

Hope that all makes sense.

Yes ry1 you make alot of sense and also you are correct we should debate this on another post.  So here is my retort and we will move on. I do agree that FB will be fine and that they should be able to earn an at large bid, I do worry about B-Ball & Lacrosse, I guess my biggest gripe is the way they select teams for the lax tourny. They gave no love to Umass this year and their undefeated so I would not want to be shut out in coming years. You are right that the move is on the horizon and the school will benefit, just don't want to be a middle of the road CAA team. I am however looking foward to playing Hofstra again I think that is a must for Long Island lax. So until then lets enjoy this weekend.
