You think Hop fans really know anything about Stony Brook other than what Quint tells them?

They know we can't face off, but Laforet has been more aggressive of late
They look at the schedule and see 7-9 (Can't get around that but we all know they are better than that now)
Doubt they know we played in 9 one goal games
Do you think they know 2 of our senior leader and captains were out for 3 and 5 games right in the middle of the schedule?
I wonder if they have even heard of LeVerne and Millican...doubt it
I'm sure they think Brady is a bum...couldn't hack it at Duke...but they kid has been playing lights out the past few weeks
Also, they 1st middies get touted like they are gods...Campbell, Tundo and Bonanno are no slouches

Not saying the Brook is going to win or even keep it close but they play the games for a reason and I'll glad it is this Sunday, not back in March.

No, which is precisely why i predicted they will pole Campbell.   8)

Brady has been lights out.  Really, Millican has been lights out too.  And Laforet could been in the running for most improved on the team.

What a great call by Nagle to put Tundo at midfield, he really has the tools to do it all.  Anyone notice that he scored 3 of his 4 lefty???  :P

I love the midfield line too...they can all invert to X.   If Campbell could only go lefty he would be unstopable and Tundo and Bonanno are great both righty and lefty.  Even going all right Campbell finds a way to get his shot off in traffic.

Speaking of traffic, ive seen about 10 games this year, and Mike Rooney has picked up ground balls in heavy traffic every game- against longsticks, mind you- and when carrying, he protects his stick like a veteran.

Ive rarely seen such good skills and poise from such a young guy, its impressive.  He's got six hat tricks as a RS FR, leads the team in scoring, put up something like 300pts in high school, was All America, and turned out to be an All County QB as well.

I know Rooney had 70+ goals as a jr, which was more than Galasso...of course Galasso have 66 goals and 70 assists.

Sunday, we will see how the chemistry of the new coaching staff and the evolution of the Stony Brook men's lacrosse team will blossom.  From my observations, this season has shown an enormous and exciting building and growth of SBU's lacrosse TEAM.  When I compare what I saw months ago to what I see in the past few games, I see a powerful rebirth of a spirited and talented TEAM.  I have always looked at the players as the raw materials for the TEAM that are selected, taught, measured, judged and brewed together by the coaches to make the final TEAM.  I feel very lucky to have witnessed this season's evolution and building.
BEST to the team,  the players and the coaches whatever the result.  I will be in the stands Sunday at Homewood Field cheering for SBU.

best,     N

Do you guys agree that Laforet looks much improved facing off? I haven't seen as many games as I would have liked this season, but I don't remember him winning clean faceoffs before the last two games. I'm not saying I think he's a stud at the face off x, but he does seem like he's getting better.

I absolutely agree about our midfield. Tundo is a two time all NYS running back in high school. Bonanno was all long island. This midfield is as big and physical as you can find anywhere in the country and will create match up problems. Just weighing in at 190, 195, and 210, I can't imagine there are many midfield lines in the country with that kind of size (Jonhs Hopkins with Ranagan and Greeley is one).

I just looked over our team stats and we've only had 8 guys play in every game this season and only two of those started each contest. Rooney was playing midfield at the beginning of the season, Tundo attack. Posters on laxpower that haven't seen a single SBU game can look at our record and call us a cupcake, but we have talent and everyone is healthy and playing their best lacrosse right now.

I think you are corrct newbi this should be the start of big things for the program, with the talent already here and coming next year. We just need that signature win hopefully this weekend. Also agree on Rooney that kid is a stud, he has tremendous stick ability and the right amount of swagger to be considered a top attckman in the country. What Kesnick and the other blowhards don't get is that these kids from L.I. have played against the best in high school so when they play them now there is no intimidation factor.

sbufan,     From what I have heard, Laforet has spent hours and hours working on his FO with the long stick.  Remember, some of the best FO players use the long stick.  We have to give credit to players like Laforet to give such extra effort and work to improve his performance.

So Hopkins defensive midfielders are huge, all over 200 lbs, so Stony Brook won't overwhelm with them size. I think the point still stands that Stony Brook's midfield does have elite athleticism, and they should still be a unique test for the blue jays.
