Nice... all this time I didn't know LacrosseTV was free in the web until I saw a comment on Facebook.

Glad I caught this game and a bit of the ladies

Lets go Seawolves!

13-7 final for SB.  sabella made quite a few clutch plays tonight.  and big game for dan newton- hard enough to transfer, and then change positions/sticks too.

faceoffs turned out not so great- also, for the second game in a row, we gave up a late flurry (4G in the mid fourth).

depth was great.  2nd mids scored.  d-mids went deep.  two starters hurt.  pallo and anderson didnt even score tonight.

more pipes but drexel's goalie made some great saves.  boxscore looks like garbage time but it wasnt- we were outplayed in the 4th.

bad ending with some scuffle.

'Come Out Hot': Stony Brook Erupts to First CAA Title Appearance; Delaware Overcomes Slow Start

Stony Brook used a 10-goal barrage to take command of the game and then held on as Drexel (8-6) made a late charge.

“I’ve been in the league for a long time, so I knew what this looks like,” Gilardi said. “I’m excited. We have a pretty talented group. We had a really good week of practice. Coach (Mike) Chanenchuk with the offense, getting them locked in. Coach (JP Brazel) Braz did a great job with the defense. That was a super talented offensive team.

“We knew we had to come out hot.”

The Seawolves’ early damage was done by Huber and Button, who combined scored less goals (43) entering the game this season than Pallonetti (47).

The first half “were probably the best two quarters we played this year together,” Huber said. “We’re excited to get after Delaware. We lost by three to them in the beginning of the year and we’re here to win this. We’re not very different (from the first time Stony Brook played Delaware on April 15).”

🏆 CAA

Delaware vs. Stony Brook
📍 Delaware Stadium (Delaware)
📺 Lacrosse TV
⏰ Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
Last Meeting:  Delaware defeated Stony Brook, 12-9, on the road on April 15.
How They Got Here:  Delaware defeated Towson, 11-8, in the CAA Semifinals.  Stony Brook defeated Drexel, 13-10, in the CAA Semifinals.
Preview: Delaware lost last week to Towson in their only CAA setback this season — a game they had no incentive to win — then bounced back Thursday night with a three-goal victory over the Tigers. The Blue Hens are looking to build upon a strong 2022 when they knocked off Georgetown on their way to an NCAA Quarterfinal appearance. Delaware will play Stony Brook, which is making its first CAA title game appearance after joining from the America East this season. The Seawolves are led on offense by Stony Brook native Dylan Pallonetti (47G, 18A).

“We have a talented group, and we had a really good week of practice …” Gilardi said in a postgame interview with Stony Brook Athletics. “[Drexel] was a super talented offensive team. We challenged our guys to come out hot. We knew that it’s an emotional game on relatively short rest and we knew that we had to come out hot.”

The Seawolves will now turn their attention to the tournament hosts and the top seed in the conference: the No. 19 Delaware Blue Hens. The Blue Hens defeated the fourth-seeded Towson Tigers 11-8 on Thursday and are 11-4 on the season. Opening faceoff for the 2023 CAA championship game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

2023 Conference Review: CAA

Breakout Team: Stony Brook Seawolves

With some holes to fill, it was fair to question exactly how good Stony Brook would fare in its first year in the CAA. Well, the Seawolves ended up doing pretty well as they earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament and beating No. 2 Drexel to advance to the title game where they fell 13-10 in a battle versus Delaware.

Dylan Pallonetti once again led the Stony Brook offense and did so with a career-best, 70-point (51G/19A) season. Sophomore Jamison MacLachlan anchored a a top-30 scoring defense as a full-time starter following a strong ending to 2022.

Breakout Player of The Year:  Jamison MacLachlan, G, Stony Brook

MacLachlan ended 2022 as the starter in the Seawolves’ final three games. In 2023, he assumed the role of full-time starter and made 195 saves with a 52% save percentage to anchor the Stony Brook defense.

Game of The Year: Drexel vs Stony Brook

On April 8th the Dragons hosted the Seawolves in arguably the best game of the season across the CAA. Drexel topped Stony Brook 15-14 in overtime in a contest that saw 11 ties. Dylan Pallonetti forced OT with 1:55 left for Stony Brook while a Max Semple score off a Jack Joyner feed won the game in the extra period for Drexel.
