He might have just been another player who had enough of football

Wow, I thought we were all on the Fields' bandwagon.  sounds like he has not developed as expected.  one has to wonder if this coaching staff has the skill set to develop QBs in the first place.

The answer to that is a big fat NO. If we could have, at the very least we'd have had another game manager style QB like Essington by now.

Remember Essington's dad was an NFL QB and All American at Colorado .  That's lots of in house coaching there and throwing the ball around the yard.   Cant credit our coaching staff on Essington he had some really strong skills to start with .

I'm starting to get very hyped for this season. I just looked over the roster/two deep and there is so much talent on this team. To be fair, I get very excited every year, but I think this team is going to surprise.

I agree on being hyped and there is talent on this team. I hope the QB position can limit the turnovers and help move the chains.. I'm not asking for too much am I?  ;)

I think we all can agree if Carbone is our QB again, we're finish right out of the gate. Teams in the CAA know us as," run up the gut" team. Thats ok if your offense can dominate the line.. Speaking of line.. This team got some serious girth up front this year. I think the running game is going to do well. I just hate that we have to rely on that 75% of the time.. As a football fan, we like to see the ball thrown for serious yardage.. I'm not asking much am I?? lol

ive been out of the game for many years so this is probably oversimplistic- but the real downside of such a one-dimensional offense (other than the obvious one-trick pony that doesnt keep defenses honest) is that getting down by 10-14 or more can be a real problem, especially late.

if we can hold teams close, mostly by clock control, fine.  but thats not realistically gonna happen every saturday.

so then the only other thing that makes this strategy win- is turnovers (net positive).  i think this is how we beat richmond so badly if i am remembering right...
There are 29,413,039 corporations in America; but only one Chairman of the Board.

You'll be ok - only three more months to the start of bb season.

If Carbone is the starting QB, its time to start looking forward to basketball. Might be a good kid but he is not a DI caliber QB- not sure if we have one on the roster.

I would absolutely love to be wrong but he was just so awful last year- one of the worst statistical seasons that I can recall.

Take your beef up with Shawn Heilbron.. I have on more than one occasion about this topic. If more fans like you and me voice our dislikes with the head coach maybe they will start putting some more pressure on Priore. I am getting tired of being the only one and the loudest critic of him..

Last year in one of his really bad home games, I screamed down to the field. " Great job coach, keep running the ball up the gut"!!! Well, The HC heard me and turned around and gave me the double bird.. Everybody around me saw it except for me.. I really wish the cameras were on him at that time because, I dont think the NCAA and the league would take to that very lightly!!!

Priore gave you the finger?? In response to you telling the truth?? He should absolutely not be the HC of our program. Extremely crass and unprofessional.

True story.. Maybe now some people on this board can understand my dislike with the HC. Not so much that he gave me the bird but more so his stubbornness and   limited play calling on offense. Time to change things up a bit.. I've been called a lot worse than that in my life.. We all just laughed it off when it happened..

Well either way if Priore fails to adapt to the modern college game, I'm fully confident that he will be shown the door post-haste. With all the capital investments coming to the university (indoor training facility etc), I am fully confident that we can make a splashy hire. IMHO at the FCS level its definitely one of the better jobs if it becomes available- I think the gap between the FCS and FBS-non Power 5 conferences is not that big anymore which helps our case.

I think Priore needs to go but, again, I'd love to be wrong. The running game can absolutely exist in the college game but this isn't the NFL chief- lining up in an I-formation and running up the gut 3 straight plays isn't going to win games in the CAA. In many ways, being in the Big South got Priore to this point- he got easy wins against a lot of bad teams.
