The OC/QB Coach for SBU is Carmen Felus and when he first got Fields as a true freshman even though he was a great athlete he only was starter in HS for one year so it took him till now to have him ready to be a College QB and he’s still learning.
On the other hand Carbone was a walk-on who they saw as a HB but he became the QB because they had no one else. They recruited many QB’s but couldn’t get the ones they wanted.
Coach Felus took Carbone as far as he could and he has done a lot for Fields. Jack Cassidy has also come a long way but the reason he’s not starting is because of Fields athleticism and his ability to make things happen . The player that they all love is Zamott and he will see playing time at some point this year or next. Also in the Fall of 2020 Drew Guttieri will arrive.
In my opinion the QB position will be in good shape for years to come.
Coach P has said he likes the way the offense is going and don’t be surprised at some point this year that they figure a way to get the TE/HB used more often.
People have why don’t we get higher rated players well I don’t have the list but some of the recruits that were at the game last night are in that category and Raekwon Smith from Curtis HS is a 3 Star DB and has already committed.
A lot of this is my opinion and some is not but I will try and pass on whatever I can

Thanks for the info as always Campi
Some guys just develop slower, particularly in the Northeast. I was thrilled seeing Field sling it all over the field yesterday- he has improved even from Game 1 this season. Let's just hope he continues to develop.
Lawton looks like he will be a star. He's strong and has great quickness. Should be a fun remainder of the season

Stat I saw on Twitter - each of White, Lawton and Nekhet have had a 100 yd multi TD game this year. White curiously got only one snap yesterday but I believe I saw him on special teams coverage so I don’t know what’s going on with him. It’s not quite Liotine/Gowins of last year but all of the three RBs have impressed so far. And to think we have Brinson waiting in the wing.

Also they have another Freshman RB that’s being redshirted and might bring in another one for the 2020 Class

yes- the situation at RB is looking good- continuing a nearly uninterrupted run of talented RBs at SBU (gowins, bedell, brock, maysonet, cuttino, gowins, coker, liotine, etc).

The only thing I can find out is that it will be a game time decision if he will be able to play nothing on what type of injury he sustained
