Kyle Essington makes the Hail Mary pass and comes out in ESPN Sport Center's top 10 plays. Just saw it right now. I couldn't believe it when "Stony Brook" sounded in the TV. Great Job. The Kid did great. Hopefully he can keep it up!!!

Essington  looks to be the real deal.  I haven't seen a passing game like that  from SBU  in awhile. Hope  he can keep it up.  Now to address those needless penalities again.

Anyone else notice Forbes 400 billionaire and Stony Brook Alumnus Glen Dubin on the sidelines with Fiore during the game? Nice to see him at the games.

Was not expecting that kind of game from essington.  ;D hopefully he builds on this performance... On a side note, the stands were a little empty.

It's what happens when we keep playing schools no one in NY knows/cares about. People showed to watch Brown. People showed to watch Lafayette. People WILL NOT SHOW for standard Big South opponents with the possible exceptions of CCU and Liberty.

Getting cold out. Gotta start giving fans a reason to sit outside for 2.5 hours or so.

Indeed the crowd was weak and dispersed... I attribute that to the following reasons:

1) the team we were facing
2) the lack of advertising the game to the students. Very little students knew about the game. The student section was dead last night. Half empty/full. While the school printed out flyers for the Home Opener and homecoming to give out to the students, and posted flyers in Residence halls they didn't do that for this game at all. The school should continue to promote the games every week and no cease after homecoming.
3) The Red Zone group page in Facebook which often promotes football and other athletic events did not bother to invite people into the game. No lie, in a school like Stony Brook were people don't have the Football tradition this can make a big difference in the turnout. I am talking about 500-1500 more people at the games if we promote them.

Hopefully they can do something to improve attendance levels for Coastal Carolina and Liberty Flames games. I wont expect much from next saturday's game for a matchup against DII opponents... The Big South Conference and the teams we play have a large effect in turnout

If this was Maine, New Hampshire, or Delaware that we were playing throughout the season, it would be a whole different story. I bet!!!

Please SB, get into the CAA! Most of us are dreaming about this!

It definitely hurts that people are not familiar with the schools we are playing. I think if people knew that Coastal Carolina and Liberty both had legitimate NFL draft prospects attendance wouldn't be so bad. Should we tip off Greg Logan or whoever is writing about the newsday story the day before so that he can highlight some of the opposing team's talent?
