What a beatdown last night. The atmosphere was great!!!

I think people started leaving because the game honestly got a bit boring after the 1st half. We completely outmatched Rhode Island.

I don't know if there were 12731 fans out there last night. It's hard to count now with the Beergarden and Touchdown Club filled to the brim. All I can say though is that LaValle strikes the perfect balance between family friendly and adult friendly. They really have done a great job.

The only thing I can ask is maybe they can move the Touchdown/Beergarden to the Away side of the stadium in front of the pine trees so that our donors get a better view of the game. I think it may work. What you guys think?

I mean as of right now we are on the playoff race. We are 6-2. Doesn't mean we have qualified yet. But right NOW, today, 6-2 we are competing for a playoff spot. Obviously if we don't win any of our last few games then we won't get in

Ditto on all the positive comments about last night. I was pacing on the visitor side and URI folks were impressed by our awesome band, large crowd, talented team, and noise/atmosphere. They spoke approvingly of our large security/police/EMT presence and quick lines and clean bathrooms in the new area. Crowd estimate looked right to me (given that the huge beer garden crowd could have been redistributed to the empty portions of the stands IMHO).  As someone else noted, great balance of family and adult atmosphere.

The  whole environment last night was electric. Our facilities are impressive  so never take them for granted , we had similar comments from the Villanova fans  a few weeks ago.

I agree. You can't see the field with the Giant scoreboard in your view. Behind the visitors side would work.

We've always had some... interesting seating decisions as far as where we put fans, students, etc. The south endzone was traditionally always the student section, but the views from down there aren't the best. I agree having donors on the north side opposite them isn't the best either. I have no issue playing around with different locations for both to see what people like the best.

As far as playoffs, we can lose any one of our remaining three games and be a lock for the playoffs. Lose two and we'll be on the bubble with no guarantee we make it in. Lose them all, and we're back to typical Coach P/SBU .500 football  ;D ;D

As far as the CAA race, if we can beat JMU, we ought to be able to take care of business the rest of the way, and win at least a share of the CAA title along with getting a playoff seed. Towson will likely lose one as they still have JMU and Elon to contend with. There's still plenty of time for chaos in the CAA.

Winning the conference co-championship at 6-2 would also be possible, but we'd need Towson to lose twice, and JMU to beat us, but then lose one of their final two games.

You guys gotta give some love to Coach P man...

We are doing far better than our rivals upstate. That could've been us... Just think about it! It's scary to think we could've gone that route and be 2-5 right now. Let's enjoy the good times

Coach P and the entire department are doing a great job all around allowing us to compete at the highest level of the CAA.

I'm very happy with this program right now. Let me say that I don't expect to beat JMU @ their home at all. That game for me is marked as a LOSS. I'm more concerned with how we respond against Delaware and how we close up against Albany (UA always gives us a heck of game)

That bye week is looking better and better. Whoever planned that BYE week was a G!!! Our team will need all the rest and preparation necessary to bring down Delaware and Albany to close the season.

Let's stay optimistic (besides JMU game)!

GO SEAWOLVES!!!

We're doing great right now, and I've enjoyed the hell out of this season, especially these last two games, but I cannot forget about those four consecutive sub .500 seasons. Including two years ago where we picked up two great wins over ranked playoff teams, but lost to Sacred Heart at home, and then lost the final four games of the year to finish 5-6. We were 5-2 that season only to lose out the rest of the way. We've got two VERY good teams coming up, and then end the year with a rivalry game @Albany. I doubt we lose them all, but it wouldn't be the first time...

For the record, I think we should extend Coach P given how this season has gone so far, but let's see how we end the season before unloading the wheelbarrow full of money on his doorstep. Yesterday's win was only our second win of the year over a team with a winning record(Bryant is the other).

We have to see how Coach P handles JMU before extending any contract. If SB wins out, I would only do a year to year extension.

Despite this season record Carbone numbers is nothing to get excited about. Yes, he has some good games offensively, but overall his passing game is nothing to get excited about.
Why do I say that? it's because SB will always have a difficult time finding a high caliber QB like Flako as long as they know coach P is at the helm. SB is considered a pound and ground team and high school kids know this.

SB had 460 total yards in this game but Carbone had 6 competitions for 99 yards. Not good. If Liotine or Gowins go down because of injuries SB would have to rely heavily on Carbone passing game.

Like you say, we've seen this before and let's hope history doesn't repeat itself with losing the last 3 games.  Regardless if SB makes the playoffs or not coach P will get an extension of at least one year. I just hope it isn't a 5 year extension or a new 5 to 7-year contract.

Carbone who I have stated before is not going pro but on the season 12 td 3 picks and 3 rush Td's. He is doing what needs to be done to win. Team had 2 passing TD's last night ( fields 1). Nothing wrong with ground and pound when you put up 50 and play great def. What I really dont get is the fact that instead of enjoying the wins some on this thread are waiting for the shoe to drop. This is a good team with big games to play. Some of you would be happy with a losing season so the coach would go, thats ridiculous. Here is a point about Priore and the staff. Ty Wheatly Sr. not only played in the NFL but currently coaches on an NFL staff with the Jaguars. Does anybody think that this man with a wealth of football knowledge and contacts would send his son to SB if he thought that Priore and his staff didnt know how to coach.

I share the sentiment. We need to be optimistic and back up our coach. I get it that some people here dislike his coaching style. But lets be honest, he has us winning... in the CAA!

Some of the guys here thought he would never be capable of having us in the top tier of the CAA a couple of years ago.... and here we are competing for the top 4 spots in the CAA with a winning season already in the books.

I get it that we should avoid getting complacent and should alwats ask for more especially when we have big goals for program... but at the same time we are competing well in the toughest FCS league and need to give credit where credit is due. It took us four seasons to get it done. Our peers from upstate are still trying to figure it out. That could've been us... Just sayin!

We should probably be more worried of losing coach P than firing him at this point.

Let's back up our team and staff fully! GO WOLVES!

well said eddie- and i'll add- we've continually moved up to the next level, and succeeded.

20 years ago we struggled against teams like ccu.  then we moved up to 1A.  then we started beating those teams.  then we moved into the big south.  then we started beating those teams.  then we moved into the CAA.  then we started beating those teams.

the point is- we are taking baby steps and showing that we can adjust to each next level.  a good sign for the future. GO SB

Totally agree and especially with the last bit about Ty Wheatley. I think wheatley coming to Stony Brook is a very positive indicator of how  Stony Brook and Coach P are perceived in football circles.

And the program is just in really healthy shape. We graduated three seniors (two four year starters in Parris and Garrick) from last years o-line, but they just plugged in the new guys and the o-line is probably better than it has ever been. Same thing goes for the DBs. It was definitely an adjustment period at first in the CAA, but right now, I really think coach P has figured it out. And to be honest, last year I was almost disappointed the team was winning because I wanted coach P gone.
