First off Liotine never fumbles. He has been a major contributer this yr. Hes not being showcased dor next yr. That was a great strip play by the def. He was not used enough last yr. I love Bedell too but he hasnt been able to finish seasons healthy since he has been here. I would like to see Gowins out of the rotation. Conner Davis #88 is a blocking TE and they have been throwing to the other TE #45 Daniels. Delaware was a good team and there were a couple of shotty calls by the refs, still no excuse but it wasnt a total meltdown.

I thought the team played very well overall. Carbone played amazing. His passes were perfect. Litione losing the ball was a freak. It happens to the best of teams. My beef with yesterday team was with the coaches and play calling . Carbone was marching down the field with 2 minutes left in the game, with his short passes and completions. Why did they decide to run up the gut on 3rd and thirteen when he was throwing the ball very efficient??? The defense knew it was going to be a running game when Bedell came in the game, hence the the back field explosion on us...

Carbone did a 180* from last year and has improved with his throwing abilities and decision makings on the field.. Why not turn this team into a throwing team instead of the usual Coach P "pound and ground"??? We finally have a Q who can throw, lets continue to air the ball. That will soften the interior for the run...

In fairness. Delaware was able to stop our running game with 3 defensive lineman and 4 LB. They saw something with our offense and exploited it. Kudos to them and their defense. Give credit where credit is due..

Chrissy  you information is incorrect on #88 he is a Y TE blocking & passing & they do not utilize his talents speed & height enough... he has the quickest 40 speed of any of the TE & yes good hands.

So your information is incorrect....

When you have rhythm in the offence with your running game why change it up... i believe that was his point & that was a strip & not a fumble.

The stats in the 2nd half is very poor for SBU; they need to be able to put together a better game plan.

Chrissy to clarify it even clearer...Dennis Lestrange is the true blocking TE on the team; he is only used for blocking. Cal is used more in a H back & Y while Connor more in the Y & some H at times....   And they are both used  in a spread TE on the line at times.

I do agree with the other blogger... I do believe they are show casing players for next years team. Ii have seen this before the last couple of years.

We have so much talent on the offence side & we do not use it effectively; when you have 3rd down & 13 & your not trying to throw to a big TE for 1st down?

Running off tackle 3rd down & 13  this has been going on for 3 years that i can remember...

Ii have been conversations with other coaches & media from teams we played & they cannot believe that we don't use our TE more with the size we have on this team.

Don't believe the bull coming out of SBU about certain players; the coaches do not utilize these players effectively is the bottom line.

When you use the short game effectively it opens up the running game & deep threat even more.

SBUfan, first off if your gonna tell me that Liotine doesnt deserve to run the ball then i have to question what u have been watching. I believe it should be a two RB rotation, again Bedell great but he has not stayed healthy. Thanks for the x's and O's lesson, I watch the games and I never said Conner Davis cant catch the ball or dosent have talent. I commented on what I see and that is he is used as a blocker. U want to question the play calling on the last drive thats fine. The TE or Hback whatever u want to call him had 5 for 47 and they used him to move the chains. I really dont see who is being shiwcased for next season and why. If u want to point to Gowins I did say he should be out of rotation. And Hammer lusten up, for the first time, maybe ever I agree with your game assesment. I guess anything is possible

There so many ways this team can approach achieve an effective offence; but it comes down to how they use these weapons on the field.

Having Badell & #33 in the backfield together is a huge benefit; 2 different style of running & it's keeps the D off balance.  We only used or TE the last 3 min left in the game; why would you not use this option more in the game is crazy.

I looked at film the last 2 games Towson & RI & we had such a huge advantage in the middle of the field & never used it...

When you open up the short passing game you force the DB to back off the line & it allow the running game to have that big play opportunity & it also helps the deep threat.

SBU needs to keep rhythm to play calling; if it's either Liotine or Badell being effective n stay with it n driving the ball & putting points on the board is the bottom line.

Tough position being RB; fumbles & having the ball stripped is part of the game ....  hopefully it is minimal

Gowins is a good thing for SBU; he needs to square up & run hard & having fresh legs later in the season is good for all RB.... i thought he had a couple of really good runs last week...

I would also like to see Sherman #3 back on the kick off return team..... he has very quick feet & it gives you another dimension to your return game.

Tough loss but this team is moving in the right direction. It's really clicking for Carbone now. I didn't love the run in the red zone on the last drive. The fumble was a tough play that led to the 7 by Delaware. Caruso was impressive- he's a very mobile QB and Delaware is way better than last year. Their kicker is also really good- he made that 50+ yard kick with ease.

UNH is a must win if Stony Brook wants to be in the FCS playoffs IMHO. If they can win, they'll be in good shape. Homecoming also guarantees a huge crowd so LaValle will be electric. For a lot of students it will be their first exposure to SBU so hopefully it will be a fun game.

I agree on the last drive. It's a shame we couldn't score, but the fact that Carbone could move the ball the way he did to even give us a chance is great to see. Last year he never could have pulled something like that off.

Hammer: Glad to see you recognize the improvement out of #10.  He is a different player this year. After watching the last two games, it feels like the offensive coordinator has taken his foot off the throttle too early in the second half. It’s like they expect #10 to revert to last season. I have seen enough of him this season to have confidence in his game. I wish the play caller would too and not shut down the passing game too early and rely on the defense.
The other issue of concern for me in the penalties, especially all the binehead 15-yarders the team takes.  Need to improve the discipline. Good teams dont play so undisciplined. The personal fouls need to stop. They are killers.

I'm still hurting from this one.

Coach P. has to figure out how to avoid these second half offensive letdowns. Not only do we let them comeback, our offense was out of it.

still frustrated about that last drive

Again. That comes down on the coaches. i dont ever recall this many bonehead penalties on the defense when Lyle Hemphill was the DC. Just saying. Hopefully Bobby Mclntyre can nip this in the but before it's too late.

Even more impressive than the above is that the computer rankings still love us. We're 17 in the Massey Composite.

We all feel the same as you, Growman. This team is filled with players who could easily be on an FBS team and compete with the best of them.. Coach P struggles to close out games, something he has been struggling with for years now and i dont think he can every change that. The only solution is to find a HC who can finish the job. I've been a preacher of that for years. Coach P contract runs through 2018, so basically he will be coaching for a minimum of one more years after this year. SB doesnt have the athletic budget to terminate his contract early. It is what it is. Get used to it..
