Does anyone know if there is a cut-off on scheduling?? What happens if a school can't find a team to play does that school just lose a game or does the Conference intervenes and finds them another School , even if it's a Div 2 or 3??

some FCS teams play 11 game schedules.  SB has been trying to make a habit out of playing 12 game schedules.  lets hope that some serious negotiations are in the works to play a legit opponent in Week 1.

Lehigh just posted their 2013 schedule, they are playing 11 games, and have an opening on August 31.  while not my first choice for an opponent...  they are a very capable Patriot League contender.  Lehigh has won at least 10 straight games in each of the last three seasons and will seek its third Patriot League title in the last four years.

the clock is ticking, we can only wonder what our AD is doing about this situation.

here is Albany's 2013 schedule, a 12 game schedule, pretty straightforward.  other than the CAA games, no major challenges except for Old Dominion.

Albany, NY (Sports Network) - The University at Albany football program will play a 12-game schedule with five home dates as it enters CAA Football this season.
The Great Danes ended their run in the Northeast Conference with two straight titles and an FCS playoff berth in 2011.

Albany's home opener at the new 8,500-seat Bob Ford Field also will be its first CAA game as it takes on Rhode Island on Sept. 14.

The Great Danes also will host Central Connecticut State (Sept. 21) in non- conference action as well as new CAA rivals Towson (Oct. 19, Homecoming), Maine (Nov. 9) and New Hampshire (Nov. 16).

2013 ALBANY FOOTBALL SCHEDULE

Aug. 31, at Duquesne

Sept. 7, at Colgate

Sept. 14, Rhode Island*

Sept. 21, Central Connecticut State

Sept. 28, at Old Dominion

Oct. 5, at James Madison*

Oct. 12, at Delaware*

Oct. 19, Towson* (Homecoming)

Nov. 2, at Richmond*

Nov. 9, Maine*

Nov. 16, New Hampshire*

Nov. 23, at Stony Brook*

I noticed Liberty only has 9 games scheduled. I think playing them would be easy for the two schools to put together. It's a win win for both schools, no ??
I also noticed the North East conference has a ton of openings in their schedules. This should not be a difficult task to get one of these local schools to play at our home!!!

Liberty would be a good matchup as would any of the NEC schools.   As long as we open at home before our 3 game road trip.

Hopefully we dont see some D2 program show up.

It won't be a D-II program. The first competition date for D-II in 2013 is Thursday, Sept. 5.

I realize that the significance of the word "scrimmage" is that it won't count on the official record.  But, does anyone know whether the game will be played in accordance with all the official rules?  Or, is it more like the spring game was (i.e. it's own unique rules, with the QBs being off-limits to being hit)?

At least we are playing an FCS opponent and not some Div2 team ... Playing Penn is a good start to the season and it should help with getting  the rust out of our guys !

ecasadoSBU.. You have a valid point. Why couldn't SB and Penn just make this the first game of the season instead of a scrimmage game ??? I really did not understand that whole thing why SB could not find another school to play after BC dumped us.  It can't be that  difficult to accomplish.
