I understand why they do it, but how much money could Buffalo be giving us. It's the other way around Hammer, they pay us.

Assuming bottom of the range for usual FCS@FBS game, we should net about $300k.

12-games season.. My updated prediction:

8/31: @ Boston College (2-10)    Toss-up
9/7: @ Rhode Island (0-11)      Win
9/14: @ Buffalo (4-8)     Loss
9/21: @ Nova (8-4)    Toss-up
9/28: Towson (7-4)     Win
10/5: Bryant (4-7)       Win
10/12: @ Colgate (8-4)    Win
10/19:
10/26: New Hampshire (8-4)    Toss-up
11/2: @ Maine (5-6)    Win
11/9: Richmond (8-3)    Toss-up
11/16: @ James Madison (7-4)    Loss
11/23: Albany (9-2)    Win

6 Wins, 2 Losses, 4 Toss-ups

I think we will win 2 of the 4 Toss-ups.

Prediction 8-4 (6-2 CAA).

Thanks joewillie. That article sums it all up. It's all about the greenbacks.... I did not know FBS schools are allowed to have 85 scholarships where as FCS only 65. that can explains the disconnect .. And to think we won against Army and came close to winning against big Orange and NDSU, i think, has the most FBS wins of all FCS schools, tells us we we have a pretty damn good Football program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have the same opinion. This is could be a big mistake for our program. Not having a FB game four weeks into the season is a problem. Freshman students wont come out in bunches as they did last year. They probably will be busy with midterms by then. For a young program like ours its important to get the attention of the incoming students so we can hook em up with Seawolves athletics. Same applies for the communities. We will follow the team anyways whether they play at home or not, but we are the %1-5% of the fan base. The casual fan will dislike this.

I HOPE I'M FULLY WRONG ABOUT THIS! :)

Go Seawolves!

I agree Edwin, but they seem committed to playing 2 fbs teams each yr. I believe we had 3 road gms to start the 2010 season. The AD and coach know what they are doing so who are we to say ( just the guys who go to the gms). I am sure we had to play more CAA road gms due to it being our first yr. Not happy with it but I guess it will pay off in the long run.

CAA: Aren't we playing 4 home 4 away CAA games total 8 games?

OOC: 2 away FBS games and 1 away FCS game against PL Colgate and 1 home game against NEC Bryant.

I think in future it would be most likely similar to this year, 7 away 5 home  or 6-6 . But I dont think we will repeat starting with 4 away games ever again.

Wow. 1k post. I didn't realize. Thanks iBOsbu. I'm proud to be part of the SBU community!!! Lets keep it going!!!

Its not my Blog. Adam Nathaniel Peck runs the site I believe. He is a great guy, and big Stony Brook fan who studied Journalism at our University. He previously asked me to participate in the site but I'm not too much of a writer (as you can tell). Maybe you can contact him and contribute to the site if you like!!

This is probably our toughest schedule yet but 8-4 or better is   reasonable and should get us in the playoffs as an at large.

I love the schedule.  Two FBS games is rough, but they add more than just money.  Maysonet running all over 'Nova and the Big South doesn't get a lot of play.  He leaps one Syracuse dude and he's on Sportscenter.

And both the FBS games are winnable.  We won't be the favorites in either game, and we shouldn't be, but it's not like we're seeing 'Bama or Notre Dame.

The CAA move makes the schedule much more difficult, but it also gives you 6 chances to get "signature wins" come playoff time.  This time last year we had Army, Syracuse, Liberty, Colgate, and Coastal to potentially help our resume.  This year we have 9+ games.

I think playing one FBS team a year is appropriate but not two... I understand why the FCS do it but the Big10 already decided they will no longer schedule FCS teams starting in 2014. I hope other conferences don't follow suit..
