I know it's going to be tough schedule but I think it's great that we end with rivalry game against Albany.

LOL.. Yes, I will be tailgating this year with a bunch of family members I recruited.. We tailgated 3 times last year and had a great time. I even Tailgated the week when Hurricane Sandy hit, when we played Villanova.

with the exception of Rhode Island, this has the looks of a real ball buster schedule.  if strength of schedule counts for anything, we'd be near the top.

So you think we will beat both BC and Buffalo ???  I'll be happy with a split !!!

Hopefully we add one more home game... preference would be a NY area easier team.. Wagner would be my choice.

The CAA wont be easy but for that reason it is a multi bid league.

I really, really hate this schedule man !!!!!!! Even the Albany game is the last FREEEZZZZing game of the home season.........  GRRRRRRRRRRR !!!!

Frankly I love this schedule. Easily the hardest we've ever played, with very winnable BIG games in there. Those 4 aways will tell us a lot. We should kick Rhode Island around (who won't?), and I'm hoping we get one more win of either BC or Villanova. We go 2-2 or 3-1, and that will immediately get us a ton of attention.

Albany as the last game could very well determine if we get an at-large bid. I LOVE that kind of atmosphere. Imagine how much fun our last matchup was, except add 2K seats. Electric.

This is the type of schedule that can really expand a fan base.

If we go out of this road game 3 and 1, hopefully the only lose is Buffalo, then the remaining schedule looks real good to get us into the Playoffs. How about a win over Buffalo!!!. WOW !!! that would be huge, a redemption game.. I think we take BC too ...

I love it too.  Think of it this way- even if we struggle against this much more difficult sched, the benefits of building this program over the next few years will be evident.  Players will get better, more experience, and youll draw better recruits.

Thats not to say throw away this year; we will be competitive.

Though there's a lot of road trips in there, most arent too awful in terms of hours.  Not sure if any they even need to fly to, perhaps Buf?

I really love that our athletic department has scheduled FBS games against Buffalo and BC, both northeast teams, instead of teams from other part of the country. Students and locals know these names, and will generate much more interest than say if we were to play Southern Miss or North Texas. Buffalo, being a SUNY program, will obvioiusly create a battle of SUNY mentality like we have with Albany. And BC college is from Boston, and we love to beat any Boston teams in any sports at any level.

CAA teams are also much more well known in NYC and LI than Big South teams (may be Hofstra being in CAA has something to do with it!). Do Gardner–Webb and VMI really excite you? I am more excited that Towson, Albany and UNH will be visiting us this year and UD and Nova in future years. Just being in this conference with more familiar names will create much more buzz.

Good point.  UTEP was worth the trip i think.  But 10 or 12 years ago they played Jacksonville.  Not much benefit there unless you win AND youre recruiting NE florida, i think.  You win at UTEP though, diff story.

Otherwise, youre right- Buf, BC, Army, Cuse, these are the programs to add.  Heck lets even get UMass on there, my guess is they are looking for an FCS team!

I'm not crazy about the road game against Colgate. The schedule is already ridiculous with the CAA and the two FBS games. Topping it off with a road game at a Patriot League power seems like a bit much. I would much rather they pay an NEC team for a home game, a la CCSU last year.

Now that we have a tentative 11-game schedule (although there is a chance that there might be one more game), can we start with the predictions??? ;D ;D ;D

8/31: @ Boston College (2-10)    Toss-up
9/7: @ Rhode Island (0-11)      Win
9/14: @ Buffalo (4-8)     Loss
9/21: @ Nova (8-4)    Toss-up
9/28: Towson (7-4)     Win
10/5:
10/12: @ Colgate (8-4)    Win
10/19:
10/26: New Hampshire (8-4)    Toss-up
11/2: @ Maine (5-6)    Win
11/9: Richmond (8-3)    Toss-up
11/16: @ James Madison (7-4)    Loss
11/23: Albany (9-2)    Win

5 Wins, 2 Losses, 4 Toss-ups

I think we will win 2 of the 4 Toss-ups.

My prediction is we will go over all 7-4 (6-2 CAA).

Is that enough to make it to the playoffs?

I think we had a two year home/home agreement with Colgate. They came to SBU last year and we are visiting them this year in return. So not much we could do. Next year, schedule will make much more sense.

We will be playing UConn and Cincinnati in 2014.
