Costal carolina is another tough big south team. they showed a lot of talent this year. i can't wait to see the S/B vs B/C game. Looks like me and the family will be making the trip up North !!!!

Love that we got Buffalo back.  While I agree it is a winable game they did steamroll us 2 years ago.

Just a  note.  Army came from behind and beat Boston College this year at Army. We all know how we did up at West point. BuffaloGotta have hope. did beat us pretty bad 35-7 but Coulter was hurt that day and  Essington came in the next week. It was Coulters last game. So  maybe two FBS wins in 2013 ?

Our team was different back them. we did get beat pretty easily by Buffalo but I think our program is more more established and our team Believes that they could win FBS games like they did against Army. Buffalo is consistently a terrible team in the FBS and I'm sure we can pull the "upset".

Boston College would probably be a more difficult task but not impossible. The Brook is a top team in the FCS and these upsets will happen more often.

Its amazing how our schedule keeps getting better and better. Look back to 2005-07 and the difference is huge

Don't be fooled, though. We had arguably the toughest schedule in the MAC and at one point the 5th most difficult in FBS. Georgia (obvious). NIU (Orange Bowl), Kent St (would have also made the Orange Bowl if they had won the MAC), and 4 other bowl teams. UConn on the road was a tough, close loss. We beat the 4 teams we should have. It will be more manageable to make bowl eligibility in 2013 (SBU, UConn, EMU, UMass, Ohio, BGSU at home, Ohio St, Baylor, Toledo, Kent St, Miami, WMU on the road).

The key for us next season is losing just 12 Sr's, with only 2 Offensive starters gone. 16 starters and all special-teamers return. All QB's who played return as will 97% of rushing yards, 99.7% of receiving yards, 100% of points scored, and 15 of our top 20 tacklers. Oliver our RB who burned your D will be a Sr. Khalil Mack, soon an NFL draft pick who was a 1-man pass-rush against your OL, will be a Sr. In comparison, your Seawolves will have many more unknowns and holes to fill in your 2-deep.

We can both play that game though recovering hillbilly. Stony Brook will have 4 of 5 of its starting offensive linemen  back from the last matchup where Stony Brook ran for 184 yards when these kids were only freshman and sophomores. Imagine what they'll do to Buffalo next year when the offensive line is all grown and blocking for a former all Big Ten back.

Hillbilly sounds like a desperate man and very nervous. Why else would he be posting on this SBU Fan Forum ?? S/B will put a whooping on Buffalo next year just like they did to Army and very close to beating orange. Every year S/B Football team gets better, bigger and stronger. Look out Buffalo, Seawolves Football team is not that little kid in the park. They are for real and 2012 season proved it !!! :P :P  :P

This is the 2013 schedule so far:

 8/31: @ Boston College
 9/7:
 9/14: @Buffalo
 9/21:
 9/28: Towson
 10/5:
 10/12:
 10/19:
 10/26: New Hampshire
 11/2:

@Colgate ???

Both Colgate and Towson is scheduled to play us on 9/28. I guess Towson is the correct schedule.

No desperation here. I signed up here months ago mostly to talk reallignment. I've been a main booster for SBU to become a MAC FB only member for a while on the MAC message boards. UB's leadership & AD have a great relationship with SBU, far more than the other doctoral SUNYs.

No smack here regarding our games, just analysis. We return just about all our key pieces, including those sophs who dominated in 2011. You were able to run for 1 qtr, but we adjusted and held you to no drive over 4 plays until we brought in our 2nd team. With all the loses in your passing game what are the other playmakers who would keep a superior MAC defense off balance? Are Negron and Coxson capable of taking on a top MAC pass D that returns all in our 2-deep? On top of finding other WRs & TEs who could handle more than FCS? So many ?'s on offense, and replacing Skiffington and some great defenders, to get started on upset talk for an FBS team on the upswing who dominated 2 years prior.

So another  SUNY Rivalry  begins to grow. We should play each other in other sports besides football. I know the Bulls  visited SBU  for a soccer match. How did that work out ?  Was it 4-1 or 4-0 SBU on top.?  Anyway  September is quite a ways off -we will be ready.

Yep a bad year for us soccer-wise with our HC taking a leave of absence & the interim not installing strong D. Fired him and hiring anew, a dire need since we had been top 25 & play in a league with Akron and WVU.

We play UA and BU on occassion, but never in MBB. Our AD really avoids AE and NEC contests for RPI purposes which is too bad.

It is great playing pay games to SBU for the reasons stated. Plus, we get  better crowds for SBU, Colgate, and Lehigh, than we have for FCS programs from farther locales. I'd expect UAlbany to give us a call too now that they will be full-scholly. They love facing SBU the Evil Empire, so having a shot at the hot-shot THE State U of NY, makes them salivate.

Grata to you for the CAA and scheduling. No FCs fan can ever knock you for NEC/Big South ties now. It's not easy but worth it. UB was an Indy program playing YSU, Ill St, UConn, UMass, Maine, & Hofstra most seasons, and had a rough go of it. But the crowds and excitement for those teams were totally worth it.

RecoveringHillbilly is a great guy, he's been around for a while and from then looks of it he is a proud Buffalo fan... He does have a point when he says it wont be an easy task beating Buffalo. But I do think that our team will be more prepared this time around and the fact that they wont have to be the first to get a victory against an FBS team is also a positive. I wish we can fast forward to September and find out!!

This definitely can be a good rivalry. The largest two SUNYs in opposite ends of the state competing against each other. Sounds awesome already!

RHillibilly, question for you: I don't know how long you've been around UB, but has the move to FBS football made a difference in terms of student morale, retention, and applications? Many would argue that the primary purpose of college athletics is (or should be) to improve the academic experience by improving the student experience. There may also be some benefit wrt recruiting faculty and gaining alumni support (though most FBS programs lose money for the school). We've had some debate on this board re. whether it's a good idea for SBU to go FBS and probably be a mediocre FBS program for many years w/o any chance for a top national ranking, OR remain FCS and be a consistently Top 15  team and regular candidate for a national championship (without losing money). I've advocated  the top-level FCS option. Some others think bigger is better....although as I said it could mean a string of losing seasons for a while (which has been UB's experience and probably same for UMass). Just curious what you and others at UB think about the actual effect (not just personal preference) of UB's move to FBS.
