while i agree it is gratuitous, dont forget that some of these pollsters are either guys who just look at scores and power rankings and returning players.  the ones that use a committee at least have experts on the ground in each conference.  and even that's not perfect.

also keep in mind- while things have changed in the last 10-15 years with respect to live streaming, FCS football is still not as high profile or broadcast and again i think some pollsters arent watching the results on the field.  even if they did, how to compare against over 100 teams.  impossible.

Interesting poll  but I tend to agree with his picks.   Saturday is a must win for us and with a wide margin  we cant slip up again,

I actually think 18th  is very generous for SB, at this time. I agree with TCSJ that Carbone needs to start throwing the ball with more accuracy if SB has any chance of making the playoffs. This conference is wild this year and last year dogs are all of a sudden this year darlings. SB as of today, still only looks like a middle of the road team in the CAA

I can see us winning  4 CAA games this year in close ones.  There are no easy teams around this  season so 4-4 in CAA with two non conference wins gives us 6-5 for 2018.   The CAA teams we should beat are  Richmond, Albany , Towson and UNH since there starting QB is out injured and may not return .  The other 4 games we will be in but not being able to pull a win . Don't be surprised if Villanova or Maine  knocks off JMU also . The Wildcats and the Black Bears are very good this year.

agreed on nova and maine.  JMU might be a runaway this year, but even dominant teams stumble, given a sport like football.

rhody is just mind boggling- the turnaround.  i like ua where they are, but know that it will still be a contest.

You know, I'd kinda be ok with a season like that. 6-5 was my expectation this year, so if that's where we wind up I wouldn't be all that upset. Whether or not that's enough to retain Coach P is another story. If we can't win at least one of those big games against an elite team, I'd like to see us go in another direction if we can identify a suitable candidate. I'm not taking the Richmond or New Hampshire games for granted either.

I think Fordham will set the tone for the rest of the season. If SB pulls off an impressive game on the road and wins big, then there is a chance they go 7-4 and make the playoffs.

I just dont see them beating Delaware, Rhode Island, Villanova, or even Towson this year.  But who knows. Anything can happen in this league. Either way, I see coach P getting a one-year contract extension regardless if they make the playoff or not.

Seven Home Games and FBS Foe Utah State Highlight the Seawolves' 12-Game 2019 Schedule

Of course, Utah State is first in the MW conference and are 7-1 for the season with a win over AF.

That's a fantastic schedule!! Seven home games is a fantastic number of games. We'll be coming off of two consecutive good seasons too, so attendance should be strong. Even FBS teams don't always get 7 home games.

My only wish is that instead of playing Wagner or Bryant, we challenged ourselves by getting stronger OOC opponent like an Eastern Washington, Jacksonville State, etc. If we're going to play 12 games, I wish we'd have gotten another one in against an elite opponent instead of another NEC team. Can't complain too much though. Utah State is a top 25ish FBS team right now according to the computers, so that's one you can mark in the loss column in all likelihood. There's a reason we play the games though.

I agree, VA. I would like to see SB play tougher opponents but I guess Wagner and Bryant will always be on SB schedule. Just curious if 8 wins next year reassures us a spot in the playoffs or will it be 9 because of the 12 game schedule.

in an attempt to put the schedule together (dates right?):

8/31 Bryant
9/7 @ USU
9/14 Wagner
9/21 Fordham
9/28 @ URI
10/5 JMU
10/12 UNH
10/19 bye
10/26 @ Nova
11/2 @ Richmond
11/9 Towson
11/16 @ Delaware
11/23 ualbany

all those home games during good weather will be good for attendance.

The new news is that UMass is on the docket for 2022! Could be a winnable game for us.
