I like that we're playing more teams out west, but why the change? We were playing AAC and MAC teams (usually during or coming off of one of their best seasons in program history, but that's another point) that were relatively close by and could be potential conference mates in the future.

Actually, I just remembered Heilbron is a west coast guy having come from Oregon St. and UCLA, I feel like these might be due to his connections. AFA, Utah St., and Oregon.

I think that could be it and probably for recruiting out West . Get our name out there . The next few years I don't see any UConns or Buffalo on our schedule.

2018 football schedule was released today:

https://twitter.com/StonyBrookFB/status/925802124411203584

http://www.stonybrookathletics.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=320

Conference schedule is going to tougher than this year. Except RI, all other 7 CAA games would be challenging. Can't wait.

The schedule looks great  except for only 5 home games but Fordham is only 40 miles away.

Per your AGS post, it's a four game series. I thought Fordham series is only two games. But four games even better. Local team. May be a new rivalry will start. Hope these will be competitive games. Smart scheduling. I would rather play Fordham than CCSU or Bryant.

I love the Fordham series. That'll be a great game for both fan bases.

The schedule in conference is challenging as it always is. We lucked out a bit this year, but we're guaranteed at least 6 tough games in conference annually so this is really so shocker. I just wish we had the Bryant game later in the year. I like the idea of adopting the SEC strategy where you play your "cupcake" game in the second to last week of the season.

I used to patrol the streets in that area of the Bronx way back when. Looking forward to going to this game...

Fordham alum are extremely arrogant and for no good reason!  They think they are right up there with the Ivy League, but they are not even close!  Hope, the Seawolves give the Rams a major beat down.  Their basketball have been floundering for ages and their football has been sliding downhill.

Plus, no lacrosse - get with the times!

I know  we play Air Force and Utah St  but we still have a blank FBS  team in 2020. Any rumors or ideas  who we might schedule if anybody .  Wouldn't surprise me  we take a year off and play a strong FCS team home or away instead of an FBS team.

I think it's Syracuse and then Oregon the following year

A game against Cuse would be great. Winnable if we had this year's team for sure. Hope it happens.

I also understand every four years we get the option of a 12th game. I'm usually not in favor of taking it ,but maybe we could take that game and use it as an opportunity to play an elite FCS team out of conference like a NDSU, Montana, Jacksonville St., Eastern Washington, etc. Someone like that.

I think this guy has SB picked correctly in the CAA after week two.
