All army games were on TV:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Army_Black_Knights_football_team

Thats a good thing

All Cuse games were on TV:

Thats two TV games for almost for sure in the regular season. We haven't had a TV game since USF in 2010.

Damn, I just had a burst of excitement for the upcoming season. It f'cking sucks that we have to wait so long for SB football.

I don't see the Pace game as a problem. If SB has to rely on an at-large berth (hope they don't), then I think a lack of LOSSES instead of total wins against FCS teams carries more weight. It shouldn't, but the committee seems to penalize losses more than it rewards wins. A win against either Syracuse or Army is possible (Sam Houston is rated higher than both of them). A game against Pace would give the Wolves somewhat of a bye week. Win an FCS game, lose no more than two games in total, and they would get in.

The FCS Playoff Committee has not relied on any "threshold" of any sort EXCEPT for a hard 7-D1 win threshold. Given our cupcake schedule and 2 FBS opponent mandate, we cripple ourselves in this area - basically requiring an undefeated FCS OOC and an FBS win to qualify for the playoffs. Given that there are 3 brand new FCS programs that are D1 counters looking for opponents (including local Rhode Island program Bryant), there should have been no problem finding a replacement for Hofstra years in advance. This was a total failure by the administration in my eyes.

Pace ?     Are they a  D2 or a D3 ?   Syracuse is a good pick up  and we knew about Army.

Stony Brook wants to play two FBS games a year. I assume this is to help recruiting, build the "brand", and bring in money. But they want to balance out the schedule so they're going to pay two teams to come to lavalle. This year it's CCSU and Pace. NEC teams our cheap to pay for money games because they're not FBS counters (don't offer enough scholarships to count towards bowl eligibility), and similarly D2's are even cheaper because they don't count towards FCS playoff eligibility. The football program doesn't generate enough revenue to afford to bring in two D1's at the moment, so we'll most likely have a D2 on the schedule for the foreseeable future.

I'll tell you, Syracuse fans are downright ignorant. They are bashing the Seawolves over at their board. I weighed in-- you may want to also.

Is it possible that the reason that Stony Brook chose to have no Bye-week is because they assuming to reach they playoff and want a bigger break?

No bye week is a function of the conference schedule.  Technically, our "bye week" is Nov 17.

Our conference has 7 teams, so each week, one conference team has a "bye".  Last year, Coastal had the "last bye", Liberty "second to last", etc.

We're the champs (awesome), so we get the "last bye", which is Nov 17.  We could have tried to fill that with a non-conference game, but thats a really tough slot to fill.

I love the idea of a bye week going into the playoffs, or even better, if we can dominate, we could end up with two bye weeks going into the playoffs...

Just read on the Buffalo News that SBU will play at Buffalo again, in 2013.
