That is good  news.   There  are plenty of FCS  programs  that we could  arrange a home and away  deal   namely the PL, Ivy, NEC the Big South etc.  One FBS  team per season  should be good . Strength of schedule is important  for play off  selection  .   AIC is good  at the D2 level  but  we should roll them this year by 2 TD's if we plan to be contender.

BFF. Last year we were suppose to play two FBS teams but BC backed out at the last minute so we  only played Buffalo. Stranger things have happened so you never know. I guess it all comes down to money, too. Playing two FBS teams in one year is a nice payday. I think the days of div2 are behind us if we ever want to move up in conference.  I also think our new AD has big plans for this university down the road  so I would think he would want us to have a tough OFC for name recognition as well. Just my thoughts on him!!

Two FBS schools in one season while participating in one of the toughest FCS conferences like the CAA doesn't sound like a smart thing to do... so I'm sure there is no plans for that. We already have a tough schedule as is... Adding an additional FBS school makes it even harder to get to the seven+ wins  threshold for FCS playoff qualification

Yes I agree with eddie, playing 2 fbs gms will not help you make the playoffs. The move to the CAA should be enough. Besides with the new FBS playoff system and committee you are going to see less FBS vs FCS in the next few yrs or maybe none. It would make more sense to drop the D2 team for a good FCS opponent. You do not want to schedule yourself out of a playoff spot when you play in the toughest FCS div to begin with. I hope all levels stop playing lower level teams.

I  could think of  few good FCS match ups for us - Fordham, Holy Cross maybe a home and  away with Liberty again.   Lots of possibilities.   I think as far as FBS  you will see us play  schools in the MAC, AAC, Conf USA and maybe the Sunbelt.   The major  conferences are going on their merry way  to play each other.

Agree with you guys.  I'd love to see home-and-homes against Liberty and/or Coastal, or any of the "local" teams.  Just about anyone from the Patriot, NEC, the Ivies, or teams like Marist would be great.

There are plenty of options to avoid the D2's.

Schedule is out early. That's good. @Toledo is winnable right?

But I'm not too happy with the fact we around down to 11 games

Me neither.. but at least we have 6 home games. 3 of them are easy wins (Elon, Howard, CCSU). Albany and Towson don't  scare me either.

How come we haven't played Delaware since we moved to CAAFB?

I also hope we schedule Fordham every year in future.. an ascending team.. will provide a much needed local NYC/LI rivalry game each year by alternating hosting the game.

They got a lot of press from New York Times for the playoff run:

I believe this is an FCS rule. FCS teams typically only play 11 games. Sometimes, however, schedules allow a 12th to be scheduled. Last year was one of them, it's certainly possible that this year isn't.

Fordham would be a great scheduling option - although it's likely that they don't want to play us. Like many schools trying to make the playoffs winnability is a part of OOC scheduling. We can beat CCSU and Howard. Toledo will be tough, but they lose a few key starters (and possibly their coach, who is a stud).

I see 9 wins in that schedule, particularly with a more experienced Bednarski at the helm and Bedell returning.
