Villanova was originally slated to face ACC newcomer Pittsburgh in the season opener, but the conference wanted to stage its Labor Day Monday game between Pittsburgh and Florida State to fulfill its TV obligations under the conference's new media rights contracts with ESPN. The ACC reportedly stepped in to help Pittsburgh and Florida State rearrange their schedules, as well as replacing CAA newcomer Stony Brook with Villanova on the Eagles' 2013 schedule.
