Here’s the bottom line in my opinion as long as Coach P runs a clean program and the players stay out of trouble and have very good GPA’s then he will remain. The first misstep in any of those areas I think he would be gone.

Off season things to watch for; how many players that actually transfer were important to the team, what coaches leave and who they are replaced with, on December 21 is early signing day so what players are they bringing in in other words are they better than the players leaving

One rumor that I heard is he plans on bringing someone in to call the offensive plays and I’ll believe that when I see it

"The first misstep in any of those and I think he would be gone."  You are so out of touch. Heilbron extended a coach with a losing record during the past four yrs. No one will be looking at the off season because no one cares about the program including Heilbron and the president. This comment of yours shows your not living in the real world. Your in good company with Heilbron, Hatch and Priore.

If that's the expectation, it's truly pathetic. No one judges college football players on their GPA. The 2-9 record says everything you need to know about this program. If Heilbron tolerates that horrific W-L because of athlete GPAs he's even more delusional than I thought.

2-9. 2-9. TWO AND NINE.

I wouldn’t dignify the two wins with CAPS. They were by a combined three points against lowly teams.

I'm still laughing at and am baffled by this post. Stay out of trouble and have very good GPAs.  Not good GPAs. VERY good GPAs.This is one of the most idiotic takes on this subject. Did you have your Thanksgiving dinner with Patrick Hatch who seemed giddy about being home for the holiday instead of preparing for a playoff game?

Priore is not suddenly going to open up this offense. It’s going to be boring ground and pound which worked 15 years ago in the Big South but isn’t working in this era modern college football. The dude is a dinosaur. He’s not an inspiring coach that I imagine kids will come play for. By the way, they said this same thing about opening up the offense when Bache came in and the team’s identity looks the same.

I care a lot about grades but no program should be judged on GPA and players staying out of trouble- that’s fine as an icing on the cake but doesn’t excuse this abomination of a program.

The only way theyre any good next year is if they get kids from the portal who have talent and acceptable GPAs who can make an impact. Even with the best players this coach has a way of ruining quarterbacks as we all know.

The players that come to SBU will have very few options to choose sbu. The lockeroom is worse than the high school they came from. The stadium is falling a part. Not a lot of fans in the stands. From what i have been told they cheap out in every way possible with team meals and stuff. It will become last resort u.

I’m not out of touch you are he had his contract extension last year and has two years to go and this is LI not some big sports town and as long as Chuck tows the line and keeps the program clean he has a job! If he didn’t get fired after getting blown out by Albany he never will

There were two LIC Games that were played at SBU today and I was talking with the SBU Coaches on the sidelines and as of today 9 players have entered the Transfer Portal however Monday-Wednesday the Coaches are meeting with all the returning players and telling them where they stand so they expect as many as 15-20 more could leave.

One other thing they are definitely going to bring in a QB from the Transfer Portal. Also looking to bring in bigger OL/DL Players either from JC’s or Portal

Give Campi a break. Seriously. Don't criticize the man for sharing what his source(s) told him. Don't shoot the messenger just because the message is complete ****. He may not believe the message like everyone else. I get that everyone's upset at the complete and utter disaster the Football team and athletic department are in. And yes, Hatch is an **** who put out a disgusting tweet mocking far too many people. But if Campi, who has provided a steady stream of good info over the years, shares something from sources, make fun of the message, not him. Please. If you want to hate or **** on people, direct it at Chuck, Geno Ford, and SH... And Hatch.

His contract was not extended last year. It was extended earlier THIS year. I get it. youre happy with 2-9 as long as Priore doesnt have kids get in trouble and keep a halfway decent GPA. I guess I'd ask why they are spending money on football at all then? Drop it. Save the money. No one is coming to games because of a GPA. The coaches are downplaying players leaving as easily replaceable acting like they never really wanted those players anyway. Great message to recruits. The facts speak for themselves. Heilbron and Emerich have run the entire department into the ground. They have driven fans and donors away and are blaming covid.

Why does Stonybrook even have a football team anymore? Do what Hofstra did and let it go. We know Priore will never get fired as long as Heilbron is here and keeps giving him new contracts.

I am taking issue with the message and the messenger when he defends the crazy situation and Priore. Like others I know that Mckees family and at least two others couldnt wait to get their kids out of SBU halfway through the season.

Colleagues at work constantly brag about their respective schools dominating a football or basketball game (Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Penn State are the most common schools for my colleagues), and while I join in the conversations because sports is my favorite thing in the world, I've never had the chance to boast about a big win by my alma mater. I'm embarrassed that most people In the sports world have never heard of SBU, and the ones who have, have to constantly ask what league they're in or if it's made up because no one **** knows the America East, and they barely know the CAA. As an alum, I'm ashamed that some of my tuition went towards something with zero benefits for the school. Women's lacrosse, and the occasional random team every couple of years, are the highlights of the athletic department. And bless Joe Spalina and WLAX, because, without them, there would literally be nothing going right.

It's the hope that kills. Guess we should all give up hoping something good may eventually happen, and forget about Stony Brook. I'm so close to leaving this site and never checking a score again because its legitimately upseting.

We don't have to drop football. Ridiculous how that's even a part of the conversation...

What we need to do is clean house athletically. Get rid of Heilbron, Priore, and Geno. They haven't performed at all and I don't know about y'all's jobs, but if I don't perform in mine I'd get shown the door. It's time we do the same.
