2021 Commitments
« on: April 19, 2020, 10:06:22 am »
Even though at this time SBU has not gotten any commitments for the 2021 Class I wanted to touch on how different recruiting has been so far.
In the past SBU first visits HS, Prep Schools, JC’s and they had a constant flow of players visiting the campus while Spring Ball was going on. Well this year with the virus disrupting normalcy recruiting has been very different such as; coaches are face timing with recruits every day and breaking down their video links. Also unlike past years where SBU  had 6 prospect camps and a 7 on 7 that took place during June and July that is looking more and more that it won’t happen this year that is why 30 players have been offered so far because in the coaches eyes these are kids that they want to be part of the program.
The big concern is coaches are not having the opportunity to meet with the players and their families and to see them workout on campus.
I will update as players commit only because talking about the ones that are getting offers will only upset us if they go somewhere else.

Also got a '21 commitment from Anthony Williams, a DE/OLB out of New Jersey. He had offers from Kent State, Wagner, Howard, Sacred Heart, Georgetown and LIU.

He got a couple of offers. CCSU, Fordham, Sacread Heart, LIU. Not really much to get excited about. He has size but apparently not more than that. If Maine, UNH, or even a low level FBS school had reached out to him that would make me feel better that SB got a good player.
