One last thing about this topic for the week, it's Friday, lol. But Stony Brook football needs a coaching staff similar to Clemson, Dabo Sweeney, and Brent Venables. What I mean by that is not so much the caliber of high priced coaches, but more of their character, and personalities, and how they connect with the players. Dabo is loved by the media, coaches, and most of all his players. Why is that? because he has faith in life and believes in his players and coaches. He also has a multitude of play-calling that was well thought out and practiced to perfection. It also helps that Dabo's style of playing does not consist of just running up the gut, even though that works for Clemson..Clemson staff are all full of life, vibrant, positive about everything. Bring in coaches like that into this program and great players will want to play for you. Chuck is an old fart and a dud and is so 80's style of football without the 4 and 5-star players. Like  AirTurn alluded to. Chucky is no Bill Belichick where he can afford to be sarcastic and cold to reporters. When you reach Belichick status than be like that, until then put the happy, friendly game face on when talking and dealing with the media and public. Maybe, just maybe that will resonate into getting better athletes who want to play for you.

pete carroll type, a player's coach.  inspiring.

yes, somebody like Pete Carrol or even WF defensive coordinator, Lyle Hemphill, who was part of SB system already...

Since Wake Forest is a private school, they're not obligated to release finances and contract details, unless FOIL'd, but FBS DC's generally make a good amount of money, especially as you move up in conferences. Hemphill could easily be making $400,000 a year. At this point, no chance he'd leave for SBU and take almost the same amount of money. In a couple of years, he'll be a G5 head coach.

Btw, I'm curious, I don't even know how I found this site, but wonder if athletics knows about it and reads any of this.

You are correct about Lyle. I was just using him as an example. Why would he leave the ACC to come back to the FCS D1, right.

I know parents of athletes are on this site often, I cant tell you about the athletes themselves. Im sure some peak to see what is being said. Because of that I stopped talking bad about any players years ago. But I will bash any coach who gets paid and does a shitty job.

So, I recommend you dont cut up any players. It isn't their fault that SB refuses to make SB football a perineal FCS powerhouse, and they could if they played their cards right.

I feel like this site has said it for years, every single day: Chuck needs to go. How many ways can we say it. He's just not the right person for this job.

True. It is just so frustrating. SB for years is/ was flushed with so much cash they could have spent some money and gotten a real good group of HC and assistants to better this university football team. Now, with the state of NY in disarray, and big boosters are either involved in scams or not going to donate any more money back to athletics, any chance of this team going places are done.

I'm taking the over on the spread with that one. Unless they bring in a transfer QB which Chuck expressed to me last year he does not want to ever do again, it'll be redshirt juniors Josh Zamot and Danny Sanchez. Sanchez is a big guy, and has some zip on his throws but struggles with weight and isn't so mobile, Zamot can run, but haven't seen enough to think he can lead the team. '21 is gonna be bad.

Chuck never wants to bring in another transfer QB again?? Too bad. The problem is no transfer QB wants to play for him!!

That's what he said at CAA media day, pretty sure I've got that recording somewhere on either my phone or computer. Said he wasn't a fan of bringing in guys, wanted to recruit and build up, have one person run the offense for long periods of time, which is why he let "Big Game Joe" start for three years.

Did you know Joe carbon had zero offers coming out of High school! Carbone was probably more of a D2 or D3 QB, but Priore decided to stay with him, and it showed for 3 years. Tyquell Fields was a better QB and could have improved much more than Carbone. From a fan's perspective.

I don’t think there’s anyone other than Chuck who liked Carbone more than Fields

Found the recording and Chuck said transfer QB's don't usually workout, but pointed out what a revelation Tom Flacco was at Towson (didn't mention DiNucci at JMU), he likes building guys from within. Mentioned how Joe was there as a great starter for three years and that's what he wants in players. He also said that the QB battle between Cassidy and Fields would not be decided until after scrimmage two, which did happen. Although anyone who went to a practice knew Fields was the starter.

Transfer QB does work out. Priore rather wastes years to develop a player with subpar QB skills, who nobody wants or even looks at as opposed to finding a quality QB with experience who skills who was sitting on the bench because of another QB who was better. That's football and that's why good players transfer. Just one more reason why coach P is not a D1 coach. SB will never go anywhere with him running the ship. Probably 10 more years or so before he reires. Good grief!!!1

If Joshua Zamot or Danny Sanchez starts a single game for Stony Brook, Priore should immediately be canned.

I can think of a hundred other ways Priore should be banned
