There are plenty of other forums and social media platforms for sharing mostly unoriginal political opinions.  Jumping onto the SBU fan forum for that is a waste of energy.  We need sports back!

iBOsbu, it’s interesting that you stereotyped Hammer as an “ex-cop,” as if you have a preconceived notion about a certain group of people...yet you objected when Asians (or other groups) are stereotyped. Interesting, and a bit hypocritical. But that’s okay, because it’s further proof we all need to keep the discussion to SB sports.

I’m getting back on topic as I see things right now the NCAA has extended the dead period through 08/31/2020 which means no recruit can visit any campus and no coach can visit any recruits

As a matter of interest the president of LIU decided to hire at least two new coaches before she fired the ones that were on staff and as a result this has infuriated many players who are now looking to transfer

I know I’m in the minority but if we do have a season I think SBU finishes 4th in the CAA

I saw on Twitter yesterday a tease by the AD that a big announcement is forthcoming in a good way regarding SBU Athletics

The way he says next week leads me to believe he's talking about a Monday start of the week. This is important since Wednesday is the start of the new athletic year for the NCAA so Tuesday is the deadline for teams to announce departures top new conferences for the 2021-22 athletic year and still meet the 1 year notice period many conferences have. This is why you'll hear a flurry of rumors and news regarding realignment these next few days (mostly regarding the collapse of the MEAC, I'd love to have Howard in the AE/CAA for FB, but that's another topic).

The fact that he singled out football makes me believe this isn't a move to a new conference. If he had talked about the entire athletic department then yeah I could see this being a conference move, but short of football moving up to FBS as an independent like UMass and UConn (not happening) I can't help but feel like this will be something underwhelming.

I get that this is a fan forum and sports talk only.. but you let this ex-cop Mr. Hammer with a lot of subtle racist comments.. for example recently:

I read the article. They are #45 because of international ethnicity.  Say it ain't so. My son is an honor student at SCCC is is looking to finish his undergraduate degree either at SB or Binghamton.  I told him go with Binghamton for his business degree. He wont fit well with 45% of asians in his class rooms at Stony Brook

Now lets replace asians with jews and blacks in that post:

Doesn't sound that nice.. right? his dislike for Asians at SBU is too obvious from his other posts as well.. and he doesn't even try to hide.. and we let him get away. Without these Asian students doing bulk of our research work.. SBU wouldn't be where it is status wise.. forget AAU or R1. God forbid we had an Asian student fan who found his/her way to this board.. he/she will never visit again.

And his constant diss at "Emperor" Cuombo" is also overlooked...isn't that political?

Just saying

Sorry Chairman, I had to get this off my chess and put IBO in his place for calling me a racist. He needs to read this before you delete it!

IBO. Before you go on a rant about how racist I am. My post about my son not wanting to finish up his undergraduate degree at SB, because of the high percentage of Asians, has everything to do with the language barrier and communication with a lot of the professors who are hard to understand. I heard this from dozens of students over the years, that it is very difficult to understand the professors and he didn't want that distraction.

Where did you get blacks and Jews from now???

And as far a Cuomo being an Emperor, he is.

I'm not over here too often but ... I like Western Michigan and Florida Atlantic to start the season now. Too much to have them in back-to-back weeks though? I'm sure the guys will look forward to the challenge. We've lost by a combined margin of 169-24 in our last four FBS games.

Edit: Oh, it's on the release thread. See? I'm a noob.

I share your concerns, but the games won't get played since I'm 90% sure we don't have a college football season this fall. The risks are too great.

Besides, even if we did, WMU and FAU aren't nearly as good as the AAC and MWC teams we've been playing as of late.

One excellent recruit (3*) who hasn't appeared on the team roster is Raekwon Smith. He was reported as a commit to SBU previously.  Any idea what happened to him?
