A big thing that could effect all the NYS Universities is when the USA decides to punish China one thing they may do is to not allow the Asian students to study here and its my understanding that they make up about 30% of the NYS student population and that could happen as early as the Fall semester. I don’t know how much they pay to go to College but I heard it’s more than out of state students pay

Very good point. However they wouldn't blanket ban students from Asia. Chinese and Chinese only students would/should get a ban in that case. We have plenty of foreign students from Korea, Japan, etc. coming to SBU. I'm not sure losing Chinese students will be what does SBU in. Especially with all of the discussions we've had about how foreign students tend not to attend sporting events and get involved in campus culture. Maybe we could lure more out-of-state kids instead as opposed to pulling in more NYC kids who will bail and go home on the weekends.

doesnt sound right... nearly 1/3 of students from china?

this says 19% of the latest class were non-resident aliens, meaning from all other countries: https://datausa.io/profile/university/stony-brook-university#ethnicity

Chinese students make a lot of money for the school, even if they don’t provide much athletic value. I don’t see a ban on foreign students incoming. It will not be as easy to simply replace them with out of staters.

Foreign students pay considerably more money than in-state students pay, we know that, and it is a very high percent of enrolment. I say this. Good. I hope Trump imposes huge Tariffs on China including banning many students from studying here. Most of these students come here, learn our way of doing business in America and go back to China to compete with us or steal our innovations, values, and technology, only to use it against us in many ways down the road. The biggest mistake universities in America did was to allow too many foreign students in. There should be a cap. Let's say no more than 10% of total enrollment should be made up of international students. Schools got greedy and went for the Dollar with their best interest in mind. This should be a wake-up call with schools in America.

Hammer you will appreciate this. I worked for emporer cuomo's homeless organization help usa in bellport at help suffolk 15 yrs ago. This guy raked in millions off the backs of the homeless and what do we see now with everyone out of work and him cooking the numbers and dragging this. He will have a whole new population of homeless to steer towards that organization where his sister Maria sits on top as the chairman. More money for the cuomo's. If you saw the conditions in these shelters yout head would spin with the amount of drugs and crimes on a daily basis. Figured you would be interested in that info.

I am a retired cop. NYPD. I also worked for a short period of time at Stony brook Hosptial. In the maintenance dept. I did electrical, carpentry, painting. I did it all. The corruption, theft, favoritism that goes on in a State-run facility are disgusting and quite alarming to say the least. It all begins from the top down. I left the state job recently because of what I witnessed and I didn't want to be part of that environment. Emperor Coumo is a thief and all his cronies underneath him are as well. Hundreds of Millions of dollars wasted and thrown away because of theft and lining pockets of politicians, union bosses, administrations to managers. You have no idea how much money is stolen out of that Hospital. If only the NYS attorney general knew about what is going on under Coumo watch. HMMMMMMM!!!

The SEC will be sure their schools are open by then and if other schools aren't open, then they'll have their own season. Football is way too big of a money maker down there for them not to have football at all this year.

When Jared Bernhardt, a senior on the Maryland men’s lacrosse team, began searching last fall for an NCAA football program for which to play, Stony Brook expressed interest. However, the Long Island-based Football Championship Subdivision school wanted him to line up as a wide receiver.

Ok. We offered him a position where he could play for us, he didn't want to play that position, so he signs elsewhere. No big deal. With Fields, Zamot, and others the QB room has plenty of talent already so I'm not stressing out over this.

Do you guys remember when we brought in John Kinder a grad transfer from Syracuse to be our QB it was a disaster. QB is the toughest position to bring in a player to play for only one year.

I'm 90% sure there won't be a college football season this year, and I'm about 60% sure there won't be an NFL season this year. Probably not the worst thing as we'd absolutely SUCK this year.
