I think Zamot is going to get a shot next because while Fields is a tremendous athlete hes not consistent so at the very least Zamot becomes the backup and this is my opinion and I could be dead wrong because I also like Cassidy

I agree. I would like to see either one of those two start over Fields. Fields could have turned into an amazing QB. He has all the tangibles to be one, but under the existing coaching staff at SB he is being held back. He has the size, smarts, speed and accuracy to be a really good pocket passer.

SB needs a college-ready QB who is a day one starter right out of high school who was already groomed and taught how to play at the next level. SB coaching staff cant take a good QB and turn him into a great QB, it wont happen. The problem with that is. What kid with those skills wants to play for SB when they can go to a big conference and be noticed.

It almost doesn't matter which of the three play because none of them will play up to their potential under this coaching staff as it currently operates. That's just the truth.

That is sad to think that is the case and i really hope they dont feel that way, but it quite possibly could be. :( :( :( :( :( :(

In my opinion the best QBs SBU has had since Coach P has been here were the 2 JC kids that he brought in as far as anyone else I have mixed reviews Carbone should have been an HB, Fields was probably one of the best athletes weve ever had however I think he reached his ceiling and what you see is what you get, Cassidy is a smart QB who is a team player first but with Fields here he was only going to be used in a mop up role or if Fields was hurt and Zamot is someone that will improvise all the time and I dont know if Coach P can handle that.

What has to happen is SH has to sit down with Coach P and tell Him to stop calling the plays which we all know is not going to happen. The OC is good but he has to be allowed to do his job

As far as Gutieri goes when I spoke to the receivers at the All Star Game they all said that he was the best QB they ever played with so there will be no excuses this time because again in my opinion hes best pure QB SBU has brought in out of HS

I just got back from the Suffolk County Awards Night and the top QB Award went to Drew Gutieri and the top WR Award went to Cole Bunicci who was also up for the top DB Award and the top Defensive Player Award.

Drew Gutieri is a really good QB and athlete but should he be the one to win the Boomer Esiason award??? I'm not so sure. Shoreham Wading River QB, Xavier Arline is a better QB and athlete all around. Even Sayville Junior Quarterback, Jack Cheshire should be next in line to receive the award. He broke Jack Coans record for the most TD in one season. Oh, well. What do I know anyways!!

Absolutely Xavier Arline is not a QB hes a very good athlete who in order to make sure that he touches the ball on every play they put him at QB and for that matter the same can be said of Dan Villari as he is a strong runner that can run over people. I was with a few College Coaches at some of the LIC Games and they flat out said that Gutieri has the following attributes; Quick release, accurate arm, leads his receivers not throw behind them, does not throw off his back feet, very coachable and in the All Star Game every one of the receivers who never played with him before said that they never played with a QB as good as him before.

The two QBs that I mentioned above plus anyone else on LI is not as prepared as Drew. Also Connetquot had no offensive line this year. He has a QB Coach as hes trying to continue to get better before he reports to SBU

i heard arline was headed to UNC for lacrosse, which is interesting, because you never know when they have FB in mind.  also ND offered him a walk-on as an athlete.  im guessing lacrosse would take him, even if half the year.

Well, I hope stony Brook utilities this kid to his max. Maybe better things are in the cards for SB when it comes to finally finding an FBS caliber style kid who just wants to play football close to home. My fingers are always crossed.

I read that too. But lately,  football is taking presidents over Lax with young,  dual athletes these days.

Just curious.  Why doesnt Drew have any other offers?

Drew went to the SBU camp in June and committed shortly after and didnt go to the big prospect camps so he basically has been running under the radar. In addition his HS team had a hohum season which didnt help his recruiting either.

If Coach P is losing the players confidence you couldnt tell that from the players who will be signing their LOI on December 19 from what Im hearing between 8-11 players will be signing that day in addition there will probably be around 6 transfers coming in February

While players will be transferring they are walk-ons not scholarship players

Yet despite all of that talent and "confidence" Coach P has only delivered two winning seasons since joining the CAA while taking some brutal losses along the way. Maybe it's more so the school than the Coach? SBU is for all intents and purposes a Big Ten university playing in the FCS. That will be appealing to just about any kid who wants a quality education, but isn't athletically gifted enough to play in the Big Ten or ACC.

This program should be much better than middle of the pack in the CAA.

i think the academics are there- the reason we don't attract/retain students is because of student life.

This weekend and next weekend are very important for recruiting as all of the players that have committed so far and ones SBU are trying to get to commit will be on Campus so if that goes well then this will be a very good class however if it doesnt go well then getting transfers to come here becomes a high priority

By the way of all the players that have left so far only one that Im not happy about is Indelicato, JP Roane had issues on and off the field. All the scholarship kids are all staying
