This past Spring the SBU Coaches visited every HS in NY NJ CT and many schools in MD DC PA and VA and invited all of the best players from those schools to their prospects camp and 1000 HS players came to the 6 camps on campus (people on this site should go and see all the great talent that is interested in SBU). During the Summer all the FBS schools have their camps and that’s where the 3, 4 and 5 star players go to be recruited not FCS schools. SBU and the rest of the FCS schools have to stay on top players and hope they can land them once they don’t get the FBS offers.

I know last years 2019 class is not about Keith Winfrey only. Aidan Kaler was the best LB on LI last year and he could have walked on at a few FBS schools but chose to come here he will be on the field a lot next year and there are at least a half dozen other players who will be out there including the PK from NJ who hurt his leg and redshirted.
