That doesnt bode well for our season if Fields is going to struggle against CAA teams . Winning a few OOC games is expected  losing to CAA teams is not .

Fields is a really good Athlete however the CAA is full of really good Athletes and slinging the ball gives the defense more of a chance to bat down balls. What I can can see SBU doing is to have him rolling out a lot and passing

Conor Bednarski used to do the same thing.

anyone see the homecoming notice that says "new central location"?  what do we think that means?  i assume something like some of the pregame festivities are closer to the stadium.  i dunno.

I thought when I clicked on the BBQ for details I saw reference to the LaValle lot...wonder if they have it in the center of the lot with Seawolves Town (or at least the parking for it) right next door

fields to start: https://stonybrookathletics.com/news/2019/8/20/football-priore-tabs-fields-as-starting-qb-for-the-seawolves.aspx

"My feelings are that we can win with both guys, but I felt Tyquell seized the opportunity and really elevated his play over the off season and during preseason camp. His athleticism is a game changing element and he can make every throw in our offense. When given the opportunity Tyquell has performed well in games over the last two seasons and I'm excited to see him lead our offense in a full time role," Priore added.

I have been to both scrimmages so and in my opinion and my opinion only Cassidy was more accurate than Fields. I know that Fields is the better athlete but he will probably throw more passes on rollouts because of the way he throws while Cassidy is better in the pocket. I think they both will play against Bryant and because of the way the redshirt rule works Zamot will play this year so that he gets game experience.

I personally love that Fields is the starter. We've never had a true dual threat quarterback and Tyquell could bring that degree of excitement to a program that desperately needs it right now. I'm over the moon.

I heard the same thing about Cassidy. Personally, Fields has the same attributes as Joe Carbone. So if you loved Carbone, you just got him back for another 2 years. I think Cassidy would have been the better QB because of his ability to throw in the pocket and his accuracy. But what do I know anyways?

I don't know. I think Carbone was very slow-footed last year. There were times when he could have bailed us out with better legs but he just could not do it. If Fields can throw like Carbone (adequate for our offense IMHO) and has pretty quick wheels I see that as an upgrade. (I would much better have a gunner who can also run like the Towson QB or last year's UNH QB but I don't think we have that on the squad.)

I saw that as well. The fact that our AD gives Newsday a pat on the shoulder for finally doing its job and adequately covering SB football is a joke. Shame on Newsday.  I don’t understand what appears to be a blatant disregard for local college sports (especially Stony Brook).  The only reason I still open that newspaper is for Stanley Newman’s crossword puzzles.

It was a great article . It seems Newsday and Channel 12  seem to lean more toward the high school sports.   Channel 12 did cover basketball leading up to their European trip with  two different broadcasts.  We shall what happens as the season  progresses .

Do we know if kamara is ready to play this week? He is desperately needed to clog that middle hole in the D line.
