Campi. Can you tell me if Stony Brook has any interest in Melville, JJ Lapp? I mean, WTF? This kid is amazing on Offense and Defense. Maybe coach P will wake up and give this kid a preferred walk-on offer.

Hammer SBU has no interest in JJ Lapp, as far as I know. In my opinion whoever gets this kid is getting a steal.

Sometime this afternoon I will be posting every player that has committed to SBU either by scholarship or as a walk-on

SBU has now turned it's attention to bringing in transfers from FBS Programs so expect news to trickle in throughout the Spring

2019 SBU Recruiting Class

liblitz.com/SBU%20Commitments.html …

There's some good size at all the positions which is always nice, but the somewhat concerning thing to me is that there's only one player who isn't from the tri-state area. Given that we're in the CAA playing against schools in talent rich states like Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland, I figured we'd start touching down there more often for recruits. In the past I recall us getting multiple players from the mid-Atlantic/south. Guys from PA, VA, MD, etc. I do believe the Northeast is under-recruited, especially at the FCS level, but if we're going to be a top flight FCS program, and hopefully move up to the FBS in the near future, you'd think we'd be getting more guys from down south. I find it very odd we don't have a single player from down there.

Nothing against Turner, but I'm a little surprised we used another scholarship on a running back.  Also can't believe the rest of the names we've been hearing are all preferred walkons. There are some real steals imo. I thought for sure Milione was getting a scholarhip. I expect more than a couple of them to earn scholarships sooner than later.

Are you really surprised? I mean. We are a pound and ground team you know. What did you expect.  SB was going to bring in a star Quarterback??? Yeah, okay......

Maybe Jack Coan will want to leave the QB logjam at Wisconsin and come home to LI.

Apparently a hotshot frosh (#1 pro style recruit in the nation and just arrived on campus early) is coming to Wisconsin and Alex Hornibrook has announced he is graduating early and leaving to play elsewhere.  Jack Coan replaced the injured Hornibrook for several games last year and played OK. Just OK.

There is also a redshirt QB and a backup in the mix. It gets confusing (note Coan's stat line):

Within the month SBU will announce their transfer class roughly about 6 players and everyone of them should get plenty of playing time in the Fall as soon as I get all the names I will post them

That's awesome Campi. I appreciate you sharing that information with the public. If it weren't for you we wouldn't know what is going on behind closed doors with this school. No transparency whatsoever.  Other schools, big or small are forever talking about who's coming or who's leaving. This school keeps these things all wrapped up . Whatever!!

I don't really blame the school as much as I blame Newsday. Most information on college programs comes from local news outlets, but Newsday only ever does the bare minimum of reporting on Stony Brook.

That said, I do think Coach P intentionally keeps things pretty close to the vest.

Just saw the news that '16 WR Brandon Benson is transferring from SMU, and is committed to SBU.

Always good when we get good transfers in, especially at WR. I'm frankly shocked we've had the tight end and WR talent we've had over the years given how putrid our passing game is relatively speaking. Hopefully that improves.

I agree. Stony Brook hasn't had a real QB who can run and throw since Essington. That was a long time ago. We have no clue what Fields can do with his arm.

SBU was able to get the SMU player because of their new WR Coach

We also added the leading KR in the Country the last 2 years in Jean Constant from Bryant who is a Grad Student and wanted to play in the CAA

Also transferring in is James Tunstall an OL 6'6 295 from UCONN who originally committed to SBU then de-committed there are still more to come
