I think you're all pushing the panic button a little prematurely.  Everything I've seen and read about SBU's two current freshmen QBs has been very positive.  Their HS credentials are stellar, and I think they deserve a shot at proving themselves at the D-1 level. before we right them off.  I think Zamot and Sanchez may be the real deal!

I guess time will tell, but I see Fields taking over at QB for the next two years, and the little we did see of him, I'm concerned for this team.

I think the quarterback concern stems from the fact we are strong in all facets of the game except quarterback play (OK, maybe kicking is mediocre also). If we were an Albany-level team at this point one would not really notice our QB as a major weakness...but our D, our receivers, our two running backs, our O line, etc.  are all top-flight FCS.  Just like last year.
A top flight FCS team wanting to make headway in the playoffs has to have a QB with either a rocket arm or a decent arm with real wheels (plus the physical toughness that our QB does have).  In all honesty, I am not sure our QB starter or our QB backups fit either of those two models of very successful FCS quarterbacks.

i remember watching that zamot film a while back.  mobile qb.  he has a quick release due to that short windup.  i also like the weakside naked bootlegs.  he throws bullets.

sanchez has more of a lob/touch pass.  i like his ability to throw on the run across the body, which is good for scrambling of course.  big boy that runs the ball but not so quick.

Honestly, if none of them naturally have a whole lot of arm talent (for a D1 QB), and we can't develop them into better passers (not counting on it), having them be more dual threat guys and use their legs is probably the optimal play. We're already a rushing offense, why not have a running QB? Fields could bring that and Zamot too probably.

wanna go wildcat?  zamot has a receiver's body.  spread the defense, direct snap into the RB, keep the QB slotted, making the defense account for one more body.  send zamot or fields from the slot into motion for a quasi flea flicker.  ::)

i know... too fancy for us.

One concern for the next year or two is the LB group. Hard to replace those two guys in the middle. I don't believe their backups have played a snap in two years!

Aidan Kaler from Sayville who has committed won the Suffolk County LB Award and Top Defensive Player Last night which is the 2nd year in a row that an SBU commit did that last year it was Danny Carroll who was redshirted.

Another thing was that both Keith Winfrey and Aidan Kaler were named 1st team All Long Island

Also PK Angelo Guglielmelo from St. Joe's Montvalle in NJ broke all the NJ kicking records

Shawn Harris WR from Stepinac was the Top Receiver from Westchester and the CHSFL

From what I'm hearing about 12 players will sign during the early signing period that include Freshmen JC Transfers

The 2018 season is over but this weekend and next weekend are very important because all of the players that have committed for the 2019 class will be making their official visit to the SBU campus in addition to at least another half dozen that their hoping to get a verbal from. With signing day approaching rapidly (12/19) these next 2 weeks will determine a lot about the future of the SBU Roster.

SBU just offered a kicker from Monroe Woodbury. Does that mean the St Joes kicker Guglielmello has another offer?

The Kicker that was offered from Monroe Woodbury is as a preferred walk-on the Kicker from St. Joe's is still committed

The big news this weekend is that Tashawn Brinson the RB from Paramus Catholic came in for his official visit and committed

That's truly a great get. I give Coach P a hard time about utilizing out talent and converting it into wins, but I can't knock the recruiting. He's doing a great job at getting talent into the program. You've got to convert that into wins though.

Classless Tweet (and RT) from this new "commit" Brinson showing himself along with his father and TWO SBU football coaches wearing a shirt that puts a bad light on the Police. No doubt he has more than ONE shirt to wear? Wonder if Coach P will address this- but am guessing not.
