2019 Commitments
« on: April 26, 2018, 12:00:59 pm »
With this being Punter Mark Nolan senior year and the back up punter Jack O'Hanlon leaving SBU reached out to Australia and got their next Punter when Mitchell Wright was on campus this passed weekend and committed so he is officially our 1st commitment for 2019 and I spoke with ST Coach Tony Thompson and he was extremely happy to fill this position now

We had an awesome time at the Empire Challenge football game on Friday, at Hofstra University. What a game and what a way to start the football season off right. SB has 6 players from this years challenge and one player who stands out of the pact for me was OL, Matt Mirabito, Bayshore NY. Holy cow, this kid is a beast and was the biggest guy on the team , from both teams. 6'-7" 315 lbs. and he looks it. All muscle too. He is going to be awesome for SB

Campi. Thanks for the heads up with the Devlin Lineman camp this past Sunday. My son learned some tricks from these guys.

Too bad my son was the only kid from Ward Melville to show up. He said most of the Lineman were from the usual Football schools around the island, Longwood, Floyd,Bayshore...

Hammer I'm glad your son went and learned a few things

You should tell your son and the other Ward Melville players that if they go to my website (www.liblitz.com) they can put up their player profile and attach their hudl link

Matt Mirabito is a monster the only thing the SBU Coaches have to get from him is to be a little meaner if they can get that out of him his upside could be enormous.

SBU now has 2 verbal commitments for the 2019 Class, the first one is OT Cole Gambino 6'3 275 from St. Joseph's HS in Buffalo and the second one is Isas Waxter a 6'2 190 CB/WR/KR from Immaculate Conception in New Jersey. There are at least two more that as soon as the players put them up on twitter I will give you their names.

The coaches were jumping up and down the other day on Twitter about picking up a bigtime recruit. Would you know if this kid from Sayville is that recruit they are referring to or is it someone else not mentioned yet?

The commit your talking about is a playmaker from NY who hasn't announced as of yet on twitter

The kid from Sayville is 6'2 220 OLB who ran a 4.7 on campus and is a big time player who even had interest from SMU. He also Punts, PK's and is their TE.

I find this somewhat surprising since we don't know what will happen to Coach P at the end of the year. I'd also be wary about counting on kids this early, as it's likely come December or January, P5 schools will start giving kids last second offers to fill out their rosters.

Last year SBU had 12 kids commit verbally over the Summer and all 12 signed in December so I have confidence that these kids will stay

As far as Coach P. goes I'm very confident that he will be next years' coach from what I'm hearing

I'd assume Coach 'P" will still be there and I figure the kids do the same.

December 19 is when we should see our verbal commits  sign SBU  NLI.  Signing in the early signing period is the new normal.

It is understood that a verbal is just a verbal but a very high percentage of our verbals actually sign.

I checked out his twitter and the Stony Brook offer was on July 23. He just posted his verbal to SBU about 20 hours ago: https://twitter.com/aidankaler39

Aidan Kaler was offered in July but just committed yesterday because he had other offers and talked it over with his parents and notified SBU yesterday that he was committing to them.

SBU has many offers out to many players and they usually give them a time table on how much time that player has to commit and there comes a point if the player hasn't committed they move onto the next player.

I'm betting this is the kid you guys are talking about.  Note: he's a 3-star prospect with offers from Yale, UNH and BC:
