Special teams is a disaster, but otherwise it's hard to believe we're watching the same team as last week.

I didn't watch much of the first half, but what I've seen thus far is abysmal. The announcers are saying SBU got bailed out several times over the course of the game which sounds about right based on what I'm seeing. Same old same old inconsistencies and mistakes. The running game is looking good though I must say. Liontine is over 100 yards.

Final 50-21  so we win big but so many mistakes need to be corrected .  Anyway on to Fordham which should be in the W colume next week.

i only saw the third stanza but the running game looked strong.  liotine off tackle and then liotine out of the backfield for a receiving TD two plays later. GO SB

Yep. On one hand we win big, so at first glance things look good, but we made so many mistakes that against a stronger team would lead to a totally different result. There's no easy games in conference this year (URI beat the pants off the puppy dogs today) so we're going to need to play our best ball. Carbone was 10/25 which isn't very good. Though I'll admit the weather played a factor. Looking at the team statistics, Bryant held the ball for twice as long as we did, got more first downs, and roughly the same yardage that we did. The turnovers was really what did them in.

This reminds me of our game against JMU last year in that the actual game was closer than the score indicated and that turnovers were the deciding factor. Have to play better once we hit conference play else we finish 5-6 again (or worse).

Couldn't make it to the home opener tonight. Had my tickets and everything... until I realized that the Jamiroquai concert I bought ticket for in May was at the same time. Bummer. Glad things went well. I'll be at Fordham next week (less than a mile from home) :)

Go Seawolves!

By the way... Around the league... the Danes lose to Rhody! Rhody 2-0 on top of the league with back to back wins over DEL and ALBANY.

WHAT???

Rhody as our Homecoming game is not looking so easy anymore

Rhody plays at FBS Uconn next week. They've been playing so well, and Uconn got spanked by Boise State tonight. That would be a wild upset, but not impossible.

Maine also beat FBS Western Kentucky 31-28. The CAA is truly stacked this year. Even if some teams fail to live up to the hype (UNH), others take their place (URI and Elon who beat a ranked Furman team handily today).

I'm seeing five, possibly six teams in the post season this year.

Imagine if you had Bryant as a -23.5 underdog!  Last play of the game with Bryant down by only 23, so this bet is a sure thing! Bryant has the ball at the Stony Brook 5 yard line and  the QB of Bryant throws a pick 6!  BRUTAL!!!

It was nice to see some former players at the game yesterday. With that said, we had to end our conversation with them with, "how was your college experience with coach P". And all of them said NOT good. Without going deep into everything we discussed, but the biggest issue was his play calling and overriding the offensive coordinator game plan in every game. This is what we've been discussing on this forum for years and It was just confirmed to me yesterday. Coach P is still making a lot of the play calling on offense. Please don't ask who were the former players I spoke with yesterday but there were a bunch.

I expect  we beat Fordham  that got manhandled yesterday  by Richmond but  our CAA schedule will be tough  after that.  Looks like our defense is solid again  but the offense and the special teams  needs big time improvement .  Some of those returns  by Bryant came back to the 40 and 45 yard line.   I see a long season ahead. Good news the IPF construction site is taking shape on the north end of the field.

It was the sloppiest game I've ever seen from a Stony Brook team. That said, they showed a ton of promise at times. If they can learn from the mistakes and get better every week, this could be a good season.

I think with Lucansky being out for the next couple of weeks the KO's are not as high with #4 so that is something to consider but I also saw three of four missed assignments on KO's. It never good when your KO guy has 3 tackles- but am sure they'll figure it out. Still wayyyyyy too many friggin penalties though and seems to be a weekly thing. Glad we won as ugly in some spots, but still a win! The punt block changed the momentum of the team and the crowd!

Here are this week CAA highlights of every team who played. Despite the score, there was very little highlight film on SB offense
