There is another RB on the Roster that is very good his name is Chris Parlor who probably has 3 years of eligibility left unless he transfers out

Another SBU Football Commit as stud lineman from St. Anthony's HS Nick Greer around 6'3 260 committed yesterday

Those two kids were amazing as were some other freshman on both teams playing starting or contributing roles.   SBU does not run an offense or defense as complex as Alabama or Georgia  so placing our guys on the red shirt list is always  questionable.  I also don't believe being an upper classman  gives you any more right to start  over a very talented freshman .   Play the best you have  for that game .

Coach P believes in redshirting his freshmen so that when they hit their senior year they have been in the program for 5 years and I don't see that changing any time soon

By the way the football coaches of all the colleges had their convention recently and the coaches voted that if a player plays in 4 games or less that they can be redshirted now if they get hurt it has been sent to committee for their approval

One more thing in regards to incoming freshmen recruits the scholarship kids always come in with a leg up on the walk-ons so the walk-ons have to work that much harder to impress the coaches it's the same as in the NFL with draft picks versus free agents. Look at some of our starters last season for SBU that came in as walk-ons; Joe Carbone, Donald Liotine, Dennis Lestrange, John Haggart, Nick Conway just to name a few.

I could not agree anymore Seawolf. The problem is and i have been saying this for 3 years is. Coach P will start Carbone over any quarterback who comes into this program.. I dont care if Trevor Lawrence,  5*, #2 in the ESPN 300, Clemson commit, decommits from from Clemson and signs with SB, Coach P will still start Carbone.. That  is just how he rolls..

I don’t know if it’s true or not but I heard Chris Parlor left and they pick up two transfer RB.
Anyone know any truth behind this ?

Chris Parlor has left the team. As of now they have 2 freshmen RB's coming in plus Liotine and Gowins plus there may be a couple of redshirts in the mix

The redshirt freshman with the biggest upside according to the coaches is OL Cameron Lucas

Clemson 4* QB, Cooper is Transferring and recently went to JSU for a visit.. If coach P had any balls he would put out an offer on him..

The only other RB on last years roster was Jerome Brooks http://www.hudl.com/video/3/4408738/5721d84c0428ae20e4d56a21
You think a red shirt freshman will have to play this year ?

As far as RB goes we will have to wait to Spring Ball to see who else steps up

We had 2 more commitments today; The 1st one is a scholarship kid Gene Chernak out of Lincoln HS in Brooklyn 6'7 290 OT while the 2nd one is a preferred walk-on from HHHE Kendall Nero-Clarke a 6'3 190 Safety who is also a very good Basketball player and has a ton of upside.

I'd lose my mind if we ever got a kid like that, but there's no reason for him to come here. How can we get a good QB when we barely throw the ball? If we had more balance, maybe we could make a move on someone like this. I also don't know where that kid is from, but I'm guessing he's from the south and wouldn't want to be too far from home. JSU is the best FCS program in the southeast.

Cooper is from the south and I am quite certain that is where he will wind up. If he goes to JSU, look at NDSU and JMU.... they will certainly be runner up for next year FCS championship game..

I agree with you also about SB not getting a big time QB as long as coach P is HC.. This program really needs a cleansing with new personal new ideas and a new style of coaching these kids... Fans are tired of the same old style of play calling with this squad of coaches. Bring in all new personal with experience and lets start recruiting quarterbacks who have multiple offers from FBS schools and not settle on a QB with zero offers and project kids. ( Carbone) and others from the past...

if you guy remember Carbone was to be an Athlete walk-on either at a DB or Receiver however he ended up at QB by default. The 2 QB's they're bringing in this year look like they have the talent but someone has to develop them. The other QB Fields has great talent however he still slings the ball which allows for many of his passes to get knocked down not sure where he figures at this time. The receivers that we brought in last year and the ones that are coming in this year are not coming in for show and tell they're coming here because the OC and Coach P told them they will be throwing more so let's see what happens

The OL Chernak that committed yesterday turned down Maine and Villanova to come here. In total this weekend 5 kids committed and next week 9 more are coming in and then signing day is 2/2/18

Sounds like great talent but until they play its just a talk.   Still prefer to  buyout Priore  and start fresh top to bottom on the coaching staff .

After this coming season there won't have to be a buyout. But, I have strong faith coach P contract will be renewed..

If we finish with a winning record, I definitely think he gets extended. If not then I think it's time to show him the door. This year was an anomaly in many ways since not only was the CAA schedule easier, we had a ton of fifth year and medical redshirt sixth year guys. You don't see that often. The schedule is harder next year and we lose a lot of guys. 2018 will be telling.
