Hofstra and St. John's don't have football. I spoke with the Lehman Coach just now and he told me he had 3 offers from FCS Schools however because August 01 was the first day players could receive written offers Stony Brook was the first to send their offer in and the kid pulled the trigger immediately.

Coach P. is never going to give up the running game however he is definitely going to throw the ball a lot move this year then ever before

You know the Hofstra and St. John's response was a joke???????????

That makes me a little nervous that he pulled the trigger so quickly..

If this kid is that good, he most likely will have more Div1 offers making it more likely he ditches SB. Let's keep the faith tho..

Lets get real here, this is likely what's going to happen. He has another season left and you never know whose radar he may pop up on. P5 kids tend to get P5 offers and that holds true for the G5 and FCS prospects. The real test will come if/when he gets offers from regional G5 teams. If a UConn or Temple caliber program offers him then I'm certain he'll de-commit, but if he winds up with offers from schools like Umass, Buffalo, or Ohio and sticks with us, it'll say a lot about our program. We may keep him if he gets those offers.

Not like it will matter really. We'll always be a run first team as long as Coach P is at the helm, which isn't a bad thing. We just need a game manager QB back there who isn't terrible.

Notwithstanding the vast improvement shown by Joe Carbone this season, I know that many of you have been moaning and groaning about the lack of SBU's ability to recruit a first class QB for the future to match up with with some of the other CAA QB stars.  Well, I do believe that Coach P. and his staff may have finally done just that!!

The Seawolves have just received a commitment from '18 QB Joshua Zamot out of Holy Spirit HS in Southern NJ.  From what I've seen, he looks like the real deal and he has been  highly touted for his talent.

 ;D ;D

This, this right here is the type of kid we should be getting. I love the dual threat ability and he's certainly got enough arm talent to at the very least succeed in our system. Fantastic get. I hope he stays committed.

Can you verify this commit, sbugold.. I almost spilled my cup of coffee all over me this morning watching some of his hudl videos.. If this is true and Joshua Zamot truly commits to SB, we could quite possibly be turning the corner in Football. Not getting overly excited just yet!!

let's see if SB football turns a corner this year.

carbone took a lot criticism here and so far he has delivered, outperformed, and has SB getting votes in all three polls.  our best game was a loss.

I'd hate to be a downer, but we've had great starts in past seasons. We were something like 5-2 last year with a perfect record in conference and then had an epic meltdown to finish 5-6. Let's at least win six games. Our program has been near the top of FCS for a while (top 25 recruiting, ranked most years), but we've got to clear five wins. There's no reason we shouldn't either be IN the playoffs or the first team out every year.

Joshua Zamot might not play QB here as because of his athleticism and speed he could end up on the defensive side as the other 2018 commit Danny Sanchez looks like he will be the QB of the future

SBU now has 5 confirmed commits for the 2018 class however they have another 6 that the names have not been released. This will be a big class as over the next two years we lose close to 40 players

yeah but those are distinct- none had the negativity / lack of excitement that this year had.

I forgot about Sanchez. Campi do you think you could edit your post at the start of this thread with all known commitments so far?

Zamot is clearly the better QB out of the two.

Personally I agree having watched both their highlight tapes, but that's against HS competition. In a QB competition, it would be decided in practice. These are good problems to have though. Going from struggling to find a QB, to potentially having two good ones duke it out in camp.

I feel like Coach P would gravitate towards Sanchez since he's the big body pocket passer, and they could as was mentioned move Zamot to another position. Then again, I see Carbone running the option now and keeping it so I'm not entirely sure that's true anymore. They both throw the ball well ,but Zamot is way more athletic. Sanchez looks like Cam Newton compared to these HS players going on size.

Assuming they both stay committed and both remain QBs, I can see both being red-shirted next year (this will happen regardless barring an injury), and then having an open QB competition in 2019 between Fields, and these two. Injuries happen in football and I'd be more comfortable having good depth across the board. It looks like that's what we're building here. The QB position is his if Carbone keeps playing like this.
