I know we are still 2 months away from the start of the 2017 season but today SBU got it's first 2018 verbal commitment when Ty'Son Lawton a 5'10 175 pound RB out of Curtis HS in Staten Island and considered on of the RB's in NY committed today

My son is considering attending the football camp on Monday, July 24th (6pm to 9pm) ....

I contacted Cody Fisher to get a list of other colleges that may have representatives at the camp, but so far I have yet to hear back.

Any insights as to what colleges may attend aside from SBU?

Thanks in advance ...

Saturday July 22 is SU's 7 on 7 passing tournament and also they will have 22.23 and 24 as their final one day prospect camps so there will be many future Sea Wolves in attendance as they have many players from NY, PA, NJ, CT, VA and MD areas

The #1 RB prospect from LI Dylan Laube out of Westhampton Beach HS has committed to University of New Hampshire. The only way SBU will keep the best LI players home is by winning.

Sometimes kids use college as a way to get away from their parents and go somewhere new so I can understand that piece. Still, it sucks to be losing kids from right out of your backyard....

What do you guys think it would take for Heilbron to give Coach P the boot early? 1-10? 0-11??

If SB goes winless or wins a couple of games this year then maybe, he gets the boot. His contract runs through 2018 so 2 more years of him being our head coach is probably a reality.

Priore was influential in bringing Heilbron on board when he got hired. I find it very hard to believe Heilbron would fire coach P regardless if we ever win another game before his contract expires. There is a very strong chance P contract does not get extended, but to fire him before the end is unlikely.

I dont know if you listened to any of the coaches from the CAA talk yesterday at the media day, but i did.. All the other coaches sounded great talking about this upcoming season and a lot were praising the QB.. Coach P really didnt have anything to say about the QB situation. As if he knows we are in trouble this year.. I didnt get a good feeling when he was done talking. He really doesnt have much to say in press conference and I feel like he doesnt want to talk or be bothered with. Coach P is definitely no coach Swinney or Saban in interviews!!!!

Camp is this commitment confirmed?  Todays kids are pretty fast to paste this stuff all over the internet and there is no word of it anywhere.  Thanks!!

Coach P wants to be taken very lightly this season but don't let that press conference fool you from yesterday for one the SBU defensive coaches feel the defense might be better than last year though they will still miss Lyle's play calling very much and the QB Coach feels that Carbone has really improved however he has to show it on field and be more consistent Fields still slings the ball but is working very hard on coming over the top

SBU has to win this year or I believe there will be a Coaching shake up

There were slightly over 500 prospects at the 5 one day camps and according to the Coaching Staff there were probably around 50 players who could either be scholarship or walk-on recruits

I know I'm in the minority but I believe that they can go 7-4 this year as the only non winnable game is South Florida all the rest can go either way

SBU picked to finish 8th in the CAA

Albany's program IMHO seems to be going in a much better direction.

Albany can move the ball on the ground and in the air.  This is  something  we have yet to accomplish in the last few years .  This QB struggle of ours will be our downfall again I'm afraid.

Campi, if we finish 7-4 I'll go eat a shoe. 7-4 would have gotten us into the playoffs last year. Seven games in this conference will get you into the conversation. Albany was the first team left OUT of last year's playoffs. With our wins though we would have gotten in with that record.

Albany may be trending up right now, but once we're good again, they'll be an after thought. Our location gives us an edge over the other two SUNY programs (Buffalo has done a whole lot of nothing despite being in D1-A/FBS for the past 30 years).

I am the first guy on this board who would be jumping up and down if SB goes 7-4 this year, but i dont see that happening. There are too many unanswered questions and we still dont have a QB and we dont know what the DC can do... As you are aware of Campi, no QB means offense can't score and the defense will be out on the field for most of the game.. I am tired of three and out or third and long......
