I know it's only late April however the next 2 weeks are very important for the QB's for the following reasons; Joe Carbone is now a 4th year junior and is healthy so if he has improved like the Coaches say he has he's got to show it on the field and I don't mean just his throwing but his QB IQ which I think he lacks, the ability to pick up not only his 1st option but his 2nd & 3rd as well, know when to run with the ball and not run, throw the ball out of bounds when his receivers are covered and not force the pass. I have  spoken to the Coaches and it sounds like to me that Fields will start the season as #2 because he hasn't shown that he deserves to start at this time and is not that far ahead of the 3rd string QB Cassidy.

It's a long shot at best but if after next weeks Spring Game and the QB's are still not where they need to be and a QB from a DI College becomes available Coach P might reconsider his options

I think it's a total disgrace that this university cant find a Div1 QB..  Obviously, something is behind that and there has to be a reason for this..

We cant have another losing season due QB issues.  We recruit a group of receivers supposedly to build the offense yet we have no way to get them the ball .

I thought we had good WR & running backs & TE last season; & the biggest problem was QB a yur OL.

Biggest things SB needed to improve this spring was;

O Line getting better & i was hoping for another good transfer for OT or Center.
QB"s getting better on w tecnique & reading D better
Improve rush off the edge

It's going to take time for the offence to click & this is due to changes made this season.

I would also like to share that through his injuries he played through last season Carbone showed a lot of heart.

Going out each game & trying to do his best when he was limited did impress me; he has a lot to learn & i am opeful that as a player he is focused on being better this season & making his weaknesses his strengths.

It will be interesting who stand out this summer.....

I went to the SB spring game today. To sum things up in a nutshell in regards to the QB situation, Carbone is the same carbone. Inaccurate with his passes and doesnt know when to scramble when he should..

I finally got a chance to see Tyquell Fields in action.. He is raw but has a much stronger arm than Carbone and is more accurate. He runs like a Deer too.

Nothing to really talk about with the rest of the team except, the Defense is stout.

I pray to the old mighty lord coach P starts Fields over Carbone...

They only ran a select amount of offensive plays; it is much easier for the D to be stout in spring ball also. They have changed so many things on the OL & went to a read.

The QB's at time looked unsure of what to do with the ball; they have a lot of work to do to get & the read.

I was very surprise that they did not run more slants & drag routes & there were several plays they did not run at all using the TE more in the game.

Carbone needs  to work on getting the ball out of his hands within 2 secounds & he late on a lot of his throws which allowed the D to cover better.

I am conceaned how they are goingto put this together within 3 weeks in July that they have....

We went to the game as well. And also to the VIP pre-game. Coach P in answer
to a question about the QB position stated he believes they will have 2 starters (so am guessing it's still between Carbone and Fields. While it looked like Carbone was a bit off on some of his throws he also had a bunch of them dropped as well as some of the receivers were late in their routes and several did not even come back to the ball
Daniels made up for an earlier drop with a nice one handed TD and Goins had a nice run as well as Donny L. Still the O line was offsides way too many times for a scrimmage.  Fields has a sharp arm but on three occasions threw in to double coverage when guys in front of him were wide open.

oh no, here we go again: "coach P says we will have two starting QBs".  this is just plain nuts.  we tried that two years ago with Bednarski and Carbonne, that approach just sucked.  but P is talking about doing it again.  Hammer????

It's amazing  we cannot find a real QB since Essington graduated .  The two QB system wont work and never has anywhere college or pro's .    We keep getting fed excuses or wait till next year .

Both QB were throwing balls in to tight coverage & Carbone timing was off; he over threw the ball several times to the side line & to the middle of the field 7 he taking way to long to release the ball.

You have 2 1/2 sec & he was holding at least 4 sec until the D step up n got to him; it's seems his timing is off on his reads.  SBU change a lot on the O line & i expected them to be a little rusty; & i did not see much pressure off the edge on the QB which is a good thing for the OL.

It's only a spring game & they limited what they ran  in this game..... got to get the short passing game in more on playing calling & it will help set up the deep routes.

This team has a lot fire power if they can put together a good game plan that works; they will be fun to watch.

BFF. I think we all know how i feel about that. This silliness of using 2 QB is as JV as it gets and will not change until the HC is gone and SB brings in another HC who has a different style of coaching and play calling for the offense..I will be pretty ticked off if coach P does again what he did with John Kinder in 2014.

The truth of the matter is. coach P will be here until the end of the 2018 season regardless what the record is. If he gets lucky this year or next, He will have a new, long term contract. If she craps the bed, something I'am expecting, 2 more years of pain.. The struggle is real but Mr. Heilbron is a man of his words and will NOT let coach P go before his contract is up. It has everything to do with coah P being a deciding vote on the board when SH got hired. I respect him for that.. It is what it is!

those comments about Carbone and his timing being off, and holding the ball too long, sound just like last season when he was our starter.  what's changed???? time for Fields to step up and take this QB starting job.  it cant get much worse from a QB performance standpoint than last season.  what did he have?  5 TDs and 12 INTs?

Installing to new offence takes time to QB & WR & RB & TE on the same page;  am hopeful they can do this & also allow the QB to opt out based on the D on each play.

The QB will need to be quick on his reads.......
