It's so dumb though. If you're good enough to make it to the playoffs, you probably give enough of a damn about athletics to be able to afford another plane ride or two so your teams can compete. These are D1 institutions after all, many of them state flagships. D2 or D3 going regional I understand, but D1 should be seeded in descending order regardless of where they are. If that means San Diego having to fly to Harrisonburg to play JMU, then so be it. They already fly their team all over the country in the Pioneer league anyway. Geography should only be a component if the teams are very comparable in strength.

Go SB.     Reality check this team should be 10-0 and now they have to go play Maine coaches we need a game plan this is not pop Warner these young men are not in high school and you can't keep running those same play's for the last 3 years  ive been following this team you coaches went from 5 play's to 7 thats not going to work you are about to go up against the best so you need to play your best for example #3 good punt returner why is he not returning kickoffs  your running back 21 who wears that C on his jersey please explain to us what that C stands for. your tightens how could you coaches get mad at these guy when they drop passes. they don't get the ball thrown there way in practice go figure Coach P i also noticed in your 100 yard walks that you never mention that DEFENSE.  the liegon of wolf's. PEOPLE. Some food for thought your team is only as good as the coaches who coach team.   COACHES. are you really a leader's or a pretender

I don’t get the negativity right now. Yes there are times we all gripe at the coaches... for legit reasons.. no doubt. This is not the time. We were picked to be 8th in CAA in the preseason poll. Now we are going to the playoffs and with some help might even be CAA champion. You can’t say it’s all players and we have been lucky...and coaches are holding us back. Give me a break. Our coaches may not be the finest in FCS but definitely deserve the credit for competing hard in one of the hardest FCS conferences. It’s time to celebrate and get behind our players and coaches with our 100%. Enjoy the success.

What's really is a major issue is the lack of transparency in the program...

You get a lot of mis directions & not the truth....

Gowins wasn't used in the game due to the coaching staff didn't think he was effective & it was stated they didn't see him as a RB for 2018. He had a mild injury early in the season & when this staff makes there mind up you get no 2nd chances...

Gowins has shown improvement in his running game by showing more explosiveness & being more physical hitting the hole the last couple games & he is by far the strongest running back we have.  Lointine & Gowins are both inside RB while Stacy is is more of a big play outside runner.    This team needs both on the field.

We gave up 121 yard of rushing to 1 RB for Wagner; Maine has a 1000 yard RB & is much more physical...  this is going to be a big issue for our D we have several players out hurt.

We need to use the short game & our TE RB SB in the passing game get 1st down & control the clock Carbone got nailed several times the line had a bad day; it's going to be 40 degrees a rainy & these conditions do not favor the deep ball or speed off the edge.  Our front LT is out for the season & our line is banged up; this will be a tough game.

It's going to come down to who is the better coach & who makes the best adjustments in winning this game

Maine  plays the run very well; so inside running going to be tough...  If this staff believe they can walk into this game & play SBU current style & win this game then it will be a long day in Maine.

Wagner had 3 injuries to there D that change the aspect of this game last week for SBU; until then it was not an effective game.

SBU Going to Maine your not going to have that flexibility; Maine is will be ready to ensure we don't go to playoffs & they have a much better team on the field then wagner.

This is a game that will fall on the staff & how well the put an effective game plan together & who makes the better adjustment & who puts there team on the attack mode on both side of the ball......

I am going to church on Friday & i am praying for a great game and a win..

WE have the players... put them in the situation & give them the opportunity to make it happen & yes you do have good athletic seniors on this team that can help make this happen w the underclassmen.

i agree with iBO.  when we left the Big South, we all knew how hard it was going to be just to get .500 in the CAA.

and now, we've won all but one (we had a lead), won every other game save USF (which we were competitive).

the CAA is *tough*.  that's plainly evidenced by the # of bids.  whether you like the season, the coaches, or else, there is clear progress.  not to mention outpacing expectations with the loss of ochi and hemphill, etc.

Agreed. I legitimately thought without Hemphill we would finish 3-8 this season at best. Glad I'm wrong.

Something that needs to be said.  If you think that SB is going to roll into Maine and don't have a game plan they will have a long ride home.  what games were you watching 6 of the games they played they just got by this is for all the marbles there coming with there best and we need to put our best on the field.

When do you actually believe that we don't put the "best on the field"? Like others I am sure the current 19 seniors and the rest of the team who has been here for a couple of years will disagree. Heck some of these young men came from  successful HS programs and am sure they are excited for this opportunity  to prove themselves. with that I am sure the boys will get up for Maine and hopefully play better than last week.

We have plenty to play for. Hell, we have everything to play for. Maine has nothing. They can send their seniors home with a W and that's it. They can't keep us out of the playoffs, so motivation definitely is on our side. If we take this game seriously and don't treat it as a W in the bag, we should win. This needs to be a statement game. Part of me hopes we come out on Saturday and bury Maine the same way we buried Sacred Heart earlier in the year. We need a statement win.

If we can blow them out something like 59-6 or something like that, I'm sure we'll get a seed. If coach P gets lazy with the gameplan, then it could definitely be a game we barely eek out if not lose outright.

Exactly. Hey. If any doubts. Just look at that Capital District team in the bottom of this league. We are rocking!!! SBU in the top tier of the CAA!!! Lets go for more!

Here is a link to stats from the CAA website: http://static.caasports.com/custompages/stats/FB/2017/confonly.htm
SBU is 2nd in scoring offense; 1st in passing efficiency; 1st in 3rd down conversions; 2nd in Red Zone offense (scoring on 26 of 29 times in the red zone, 19 of them TDs!), 1st in KO return yardage, 2nd in rush defense, 3rd in total defense, 3rd in turnover margin, 1st in sacks given up.  Are there areas where the team can improve?  Sure there are.  But heck, the team has performed well in all three phases of the game. The boys deserve credit.  So do the coaches.
